Payroll Specialist UK

About the Role
We are looking for a Payroll Specialist with hands-on experience in UK payroll processing. The ideal candidate should have experience managing end-to-end payroll operations, payroll calculations, statutory deductions, payroll reconciliations, payroll reporting, and compliance with UK payroll requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for UK-based clients/entities.
- Process monthly payroll accurately in accordance with payroll calendars and statutory requirements.
- Validate employee master data, timesheets, leave records, benefits, and payroll inputs.
- Calculate salaries, overtime, bonuses, commissions, statutory deductions, and other payroll adjustments.
- Process new hires, employee changes, leavers, and final settlements.
- Calculate and process PAYE and National Insurance deductions.
- Manage payroll-related pension deductions and other applicable employee deductions.
- Perform payroll reconciliations and investigate payroll discrepancies.
- Prepare payroll journals and support month-end payroll reconciliation.
- Prepare and maintain payroll reports and statutory payroll documentation.
- Coordinate with HR, Finance, employees, and clients to resolve payroll queries.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation.
- Support HMRC-related payroll requirements and payroll audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable UK payroll legislation and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
Key Software Hands-on experience with one or more of the following is preferred:
- ADP
- Gusto
- Sage Payroll
- Xero Payroll
Experience with other UK payroll, HRMS, or payroll processing platforms will also be considered. Payroll & Compliance Knowledge

Qualifications & Skills
- Master's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
- 3–8 years of experience in UK Payroll, Payroll Operations, or Global Payroll.
- Hands-on experience processing UK payroll is preferred.
- Robust understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, workplace pensions, and relevant UK payroll requirements.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
