About the Role

Vicharak is building advanced computing systems across embedded systems, FPGA and ASIC design. As our ASIC engineering team grows, we are building our own internal compute and IT infrastructure to run semiconductor design tools, engineering servers, storage systems, VPN access and development environments.

We are looking for an IT & EDA Infrastructure Engineer with 1-2 years of hands-on experience in IT support, Linux systems, networking or server administration.

Prior ASIC or semiconductor experience is not required. We will train the selected engineer on semiconductor EDA infrastructure, ASIC design environments, EDA license management, engineering compute systems and related technologies.

This is a strong chance for someone from an IT/System Administration background who wants to move into semiconductor engineering infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Linux Server Administration

- Install and configure Linux operating systems.
- Manage Linux users, groups, permissions and SSH access.
- Install packages and software required by engineering teams.
- Monitor CPU, RAM, disk usage, system load and running services.
- Troubleshoot Linux system issues and perform basic server maintenance.
- Maintain multiple engineering servers and document configurations.

Experience with Ubuntu, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, RHEL or CentOS is preferred. IT Support for Engineering Teams

Provide day-to-day technical support to engineers, including:

- Linux login/access issues
- Network connectivity
- VPN connectivity
- SSH problems
- Storage access
- Software installation
- Server access
- User account management
- System configuration
- Basic hardware troubleshooting

The engineer should be comfortable troubleshooting problems independently and documenting solutions.

Networking

Assist in managing the company's internal engineering network. Basic understanding is expected in:

- TCP/IP and IP addressing
- Subnets
- DHCP and DNS
- Routing
- VLANs
- Firewalls
- NAT
- SSH

The engineer will gradually gain experience managing higher-speed networking and larger server environments as Vicharak's compute infrastructure grows. VPN & Remote Access

- Create and manage VPN users.
- Troubleshoot VPN connectivity.
- Manage secure remote server access and SSH keys.
- Maintain access permissions and help implement secure remote-access policies.

Experience with WireGuard, OpenVPN, Tailscale or IPsec is beneficial but not mandatory. Server & Hardware Management

Assist with deployment and maintenance of Linux servers, workstations, storage servers, network switches, routers, firewalls and UPS systems.

Storage & Backup Help maintain centralized engineering storage and learn technologies such as NFS, NAS, RAID, shared network storage, Linux filesystems, snapshots and backup servers.

- Monitor storage usage and health.
- Manage user permissions.
- Maintain and verify backups.
- Assist with data recovery.

User & Access Management

- Create Linux accounts.




- Manage groups and permissions.
- Manage SSH keys and VPN access.
- Revoke access when required.
- Maintain documentation of system access.

As the infrastructure grows, the engineer will also learn centralized authentication systems such as LDAP or FreeIPA. EDA & Semiconductor Infrastructure Training The selected engineer will be trained internally on infrastructure used by ASIC design teams. You are not expected to know these technologies before joining.

Over time, you will learn how to support semiconductor design tools from companies such as Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens EDA and Ansys, including:

- EDA software installation and environment configuration
- EDA license servers and FlexLM/FlexNet
- Tool version management
- PDK installation and access
- Shared engineering environments
- Semiconductor design compute infrastructure
- ASIC design storage requirements
- Engineering compute clusters

You do not need to become an ASIC design engineer. Your responsibility will be to understand the infrastructure required by ASIC engineers and keep that environment reliable, secure and accessible.

EDA License Server Management

After training, responsibilities will include assisting with:

- Installing EDA license servers.
- Configuring vendor license daemons.
- Monitoring available licenses.
- Troubleshooting license checkout problems.
- Updating license files.
- Maintaining license-server availability.

You will gradually learn technologies such as FlexLM, FlexNet, lmgrd and vendor license daemons.

Engineering Compute Infrastructure

As Vicharak grows, our infrastructure will expand from a small number of servers into a larger compute environment. You will help us build and maintain systems used for:

- ASIC simulation
- Physical design
- Synthesis
- DRC/LVS
- Timing analysis
- Analog simulation
- Memory design
- Verification

Over time, you may work with cluster and workload management systems such as Slurm, IBM LSF or OpenPBS. Previous experience with these technologies is not required. Automation & Monitoring

Automation

We want to automate repetitive infrastructure tasks. Basic scripting knowledge is preferred, especially Bash or Python. Experience with Ansible is an advantage.

Examples of future automation tasks include:

- Creating users
- Installing software
- Configuring servers
- Deploying engineering environments
- Checking backups
- Monitoring servers
- Managing configuration files

Monitoring Help monitor engineering infrastructure including CPU utilization, memory usage, disk usage, network connectivity, server availability, storage availability, VPN connectivity and critical services.

Over time, you may work with tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix or Nagios.

Security

Follow and help implement security practices for engineering infrastructure, including:

- Secure SSH configuration
- Firewall management
- VPN security
- User access control




- System updates
- Server hardening
- Access logging
- Backup protection

Our ASIC infrastructure may contain confidential engineering information, design files, EDA software, PDKs and other proprietary data, so security and access control are important parts of this role.

Required Skills

We are looking for someone with approximately 1-2 years of practical experience in IT support, system administration, networking or Linux administration. The candidate should have:

- Basic Linux administration knowledge.
- Good understanding of computers and operating systems.
- Basic networking knowledge.
- Experience troubleshooting IT problems.
- Understanding of IP addresses, DNS, DHCP and networks.
- Basic SSH knowledge.
- Basic user and permission management knowledge.
- Ability to install and configure Linux software.
- Basic hardware troubleshooting knowledge.
- Willingness to work primarily with Linux-based systems.
- Strong interest in learning new technologies.

ASIC / Semiconductor Experience Not required.

Knowledge of ASIC design, semiconductor design, Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens EDA, PDKs, FlexLM, HPC clusters or EDA tools will be considered an advantage, but candidates without this experience are encouraged to apply. We will provide the necessary training.

Education Bachelor's degree, diploma or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Networking or System Administration.

Candidates with strong practical Linux and infrastructure skills are encouraged to apply even if their academic background is different.
