Location: Mumbai, India

Experience: 10-15 years

About the Company

Neve Jewels Group is a UK headquartered, digital-first jewellery company that redefines modern luxury through made-to-order design, ethical craftsmanship, and global e-commerce. The business operates across Diamonds Factory, Austen & Blake, and Sacet, serving customers with personalised experiences that celebrate meaningful life moments. Its mission is rooted in customer centricity, trust, innovation, and sustainability, with a strong commitment to ethical sourcing and responsible operations.

The company is scaling a technology-led retail platform where data plays a central role in improving customer experience, operational performance, and long-term growth. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, platform leadership, analytics, and advanced science, helping the business turn information into a durable competitive advantage.

Company Proof Points

- The company operates multiple consumer brands across digital commerce, giving the data function a broad and high-impact business footprint across customer journeys, trading, and operations.
- The business is headquartered in London and combines digital-first retail with made-to-order craftsmanship, creating a strong need for reliable data, product insight, and scalable decision support.

About the Role The Head of Data will own the enterprise data agenda and translate business priorities into a practical roadmap for platforms, analytics, governance, and advanced science. The role is responsible for shaping how data is collected, trusted, activated, and scaled across the organisation.

It combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight of architecture, tooling, and delivery standards. The successful leader will align multi-disciplinary teams around clear outcomes, create the conditions for self-service decision-making, and ensure data initiatives produce measurable business value. This is a senior leadership role reporting to the CTO, with accountability for building a resilient data capability that supports growth, operational excellence, and ethical innovation.

Key Responsibilities

- Define and own the enterprise data roadmap, ensuring data strategy is aligned to long-term business goals and translated into measurable priorities that improve decision quality and commercial performance.
- Lead the design and operation of a scalable cloud-native data platform, with a focus on reliability, security, and high availability across pipelines, warehouses,

and downstream consumption layers.
- Build a data-driven culture by improving literacy, establishing shared metrics, and enabling leaders across the business to use trusted data in operational and strategic decision-making.
- Oversee analytics and business intelligence delivery, including KPI frameworks, self-service access, and actionable reporting that helps teams identify opportunities, remove friction, and measure impact.
- Direct data science and AI efforts from prototype through production, ensuring predictive models are validated, ethically governed, and tied to clear business use cases.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of analysts, engineers, and scientists, creating an operating model that balances autonomy, accountability, coaching, and effective resource allocation.
- Establish robust governance and compliance standards across data ownership, privacy, and quality, ensuring the organisation can scale responsibly while meeting regulatory expectations.
- Manage vendor relationships, tooling decisions, and departmental budgets so the data function remains efficient, modern, and aligned to business priorities.

Essential Skills & Technologies

- Strong command of Python and SQL for data manipulation, automation, analysis, and solution delivery across engineering, analytics, and science use cases.
- Deep experience with AWS data architecture, including S3, Redshift, Glue, and EMR, to build scalable and resilient processing environments.
- Expert-level hands-on capability with Apache Airflow for designing, scheduling, and monitoring complex ETL and ELT workflows end to end.
- Proven ability to work with PostgreSQL at scale, including performance tuning, schema design, and reliable relational data management.
- Demonstrated use of modern analytics tooling such as Apache Superset, semantic layers, dbt, and Git to enable self-service insight and controlled change management.
- Practical understanding of machine learning lifecycle management, including model training, deployment, evaluation, and MLOps workflows using tools such as SageMaker or MLflow.

- Familiarity with infrastructure as code and automation using Terraform or CloudFormation, plus streaming technologies such as Kafka or Kinesis for real-time analytics.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, privacy, and access control practices, including the ability to design systems that support quality, integrity, and compliance at scale.

Additional Plus

- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Certified Data Engineer.
- Data governance or privacy certifications such as CDMP or CIPP.
- Agile leadership certifications such as CSP or Secure Agilist, demonstrating structured iterative delivery.

What You'll Bring

- 10+ years of data leadership experience, ideally in high-growth environments such as e-commerce, SaaS, or comparable digital businesses, with a record of turning data into business value.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and partnering with senior stakeholders to convert technical complexity into explicit decisions and measurable outcomes.
- A balanced leadership style that strengthens governance without slowing innovation, so teams can move quickly while protecting quality, trust, and compliance.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the credibility to bridge engineering, analytics, science, and executive priorities in a single operating model.

Why Join Us You will join a fast-growing business where the data function has visible impact on customer experience, trading decisions, and operational excellence. The role offers genuine scope to shape strategy rather than simply execute it, with responsibility across platform architecture, analytics, science, and governance. You will work with a leadership team that values innovation, transparency, and practical problem-solving, and you will help build the foundations for a more data-driven organisation.

The environment is designed to support strong delivery while giving people flexibility and trust in how they work. If you are motivated by building durable capability, improving decision-making, and creating measurable business outcomes, this role offers the scale and autonomy to do exactly that.

What We Offer

- On-site working with a strong in-person collaboration model, plus flexible start and finish times that support delivery and balance.
- Private healthcare through Vitality, access to Perkbox benefits, and enhanced leave policies that support wellbeing and family life.
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, alongside an extra day off for your birthday.
