Job title: Assistant Vice President – Data Quality (Finance)
Location: India – Hyderabad / Chennai / Gurgaon The prospect
Our Banking client is looking for an Assistant Vice President – Data Quality to support Finance Data Services across key value streams. You’ll help ensure strong data quality, policy and regulatory compliance, and effective management of data risk. This role suits someone with hands-on technical capability, experience in banking finance and/or regulatory reporting, and confidence working across business and technology stakeholders.
What you’ll do
Data quality, governance and controls
- Governance & escalation: Participate in DQMC governance routines by preparing inputs on priority data quality breaches (root cause, impact, remediation plan, timeline) and tracking actions to closure, escalating blockers where needed.
- Metrics & reporting: Produce and present regular DQMC reporting (e.g., rule coverage, breach trends, ageing, remediation progress, control effectiveness) and support agreement of focus areas and improvement actions with Finance and Technology stakeholders.
- Support Finance teams to meet data management and data use compliance expectations (DMOV/DUSE).
- Help document key Finance processes and data flows, including right sources, data definitions, and system lineage.
- Ensure datasets produced and consumed by Finance processes are appropriately controlled and monitored using relevant tools and platforms.
- Identify, log, and support the management of data quality and control issues, ensuring sufficient detail is captured to enable remediation through the Group Issue Management Tool.
Stakeholder collaboration
- Build strong working relationships with Finance data SMEs and DAO teams.
- Partner closely with IT and technical teams (including ITSO, DMP, and platforms such as Collibra, ARIS, EIM).
- Collaborate within the Group Data Management Office (GDMO) with Data Governance, Business Data Architecture, and Trusted Source teams.
Continuous improvement
- Maintain a strong focus on continuous improvement across data quality processes, documentation, and controls.
- Take ownership and support end-to-end implementation of strategic improvements and solutions.
What you’ll need
Experience and domain knowledge
- Experience working in Finance, with understanding of banking finance concepts (e.g., Liquidity, Risk Weighted Assets, Treasury).
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements in a large global bank (e.g., Basel III, BCBS 239, CARR).
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to complex, multi-data environments.
Technical skills
- Working knowledge and/or experience in tools such as Alteryx, Python, SAS, SQL .
- Exposure to data visualisation tools such as Qlik Sense or Tableau .
- Strong Microsoft Office skills: Excel, PowerPoint (plus exposure to Visio and/or VBA ).
- Familiarity with documentation/content management tools (e.g. Confluence ).
- Exposure to SDLC and Agile delivery methodologies.
