About the Role
We're hiring a Data Engineer to build data pipelines for a workplace analytics initiative for a global banking client. The role involves pulling data from physical access systems and building/space systems, cleaning and transforming it, and producing protected, aggregated datasets — without exposing sensitive raw data. This runs on the client's on-prem servers today, with a planned future move to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This is a production-facing role — you'll be expected to follow proper escalation processes and lead root cause analysis when issues arise.

What You'll Do
Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines pulling from multiple source systems
Design clean, well-structured data models — this is judged heavily, since the design will carry forward into a future cloud migration




Work across both logical and physical data modeling — from conceptual entity design through to actual database implementation
Write and tune SQL queries for large data volumes
Automate pipeline runs
Ensure data quality, validation, and reconciliation
Maintain data lineage — track and document how data moves and transforms across the pipeline, from raw source to final output
Build with a "cloud-ready" mindset — code and design should lift-and-shift cleanly to GCP later
Work with synthetic/test data (production data won't be available in lower environments)
Follow structured SDLC practices across requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment
Handle production issues through proper escalation procedures and structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Work closely with the internal team to stay up to date on product features, changes, and issues
