Database Engineer - PostgreSQL (Google Cloud), PostgreSQL Database Administration - GCP\
\
Domain: Database Engineering / Cloud Migration\
\
Program context: Non‑Oracle Database Migration to Google Cloud (VMware exit)\
\
Support the migration, operation, and stabilization of SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases as part of Nordea’s Non‑Oracle database migration to Google Cloud, while ensuring continued reliable and compliant operation of business‑critical database services in a regulated environment.\
\

Key responsibilities\
\
Execute and support database migrations from on‑premises (VMware) to Google Cloud\
\
Operate PostgreSQL databases in hybrid and cloud environments\
\
Support migration activities including: Technical analysis and preparation\
\
Migration execution and validation\
\
Post‑migration stabilization and issue resolution\
\
Perform database administration tasks such as: Performance tuning and optimization\
\




Capacity planning\
\
Backup, recovery, and availability setup\
\
Support incidents, changes, and releases in line with ITSM processes\
\
Collaborate with Cloud Engineering, Security, Platform, and Application teams\
\
Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures\
\
Must-have knowledge and experience\
\
Strong hands‑on experience as a Database Engineer / DBA\
\
Proven experience with PostgreSQL in enterprise environments\
\
(depth in one with working knowledge of the other is acceptable)\
\
Experience operating databases on cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud\
\
Hands‑on experience with on‑prem to cloud database migrations\
\
Solid understanding of: \

- High availability and disaster recovery concepts\
\
- Backup and restore strategies\
\
- Performance troubleshooting\
\
