- Bachelor’s degree, usually B.A./B.A. (Hons.) with English as a subject.
- B.Ed. from a recognized university/institution.
- Many schools prefer or require M.A. English, especially for experienced/senior positions.
- English should normally have been studied at the graduation level for appointment as TGT English.
- Some schools specify a minimum percentage in English or graduation, commonly 50%.
- CTET is not automatically required for every private CBSE school.
- However, many CBSE schools prefer/require CTET Paper-II, particularly schools following government-school recruitment standards.
- Freshers may be eligible in some schools.
- For established CBSE schools, 1–3+ years of TGT English experience is often preferred.
- Good spoken and written English.
- Knowledge of CBSE/NCERT curriculum.
- Ability to prepare lesson plans, assessments and classroom activities.
- Basic computer/digital teaching skills
