Production OSD: Coating – Operator
- Machine Operation: Set up, assemble, and operate automated auto-coaters (e.g., Gansons, Glatt, ACG, Kevin) to apply film, enteric, or functional coatings to tablet beds.
- Parameter Adjustment: Monitor and control critical processing variables including pan RPM, inlet/outlet air temperature, spray rate, atomization air pressure, and bed temperature.
- Suspension Preparation: Mix, homogenize, and prepare coating solutions or suspensions precisely according to the step-by-step instructions in the Batch Manufacturing Record (BMR).
- Defect Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve real-time coating challenges such as tablet chipping, twinning, peeling, orange peel effect, mottling, or logo bridging.
- In-Process Checks:
Perform regular physical checks during the coating cycle to verify tablet weight gain, appearance uniformity, and moisture levels.
- Spray Gun Maintenance: Set up, calibrate, dismantle, and clean spray guns (nozzles) and peristaltic pump tubing to ensure uniform spray distribution.
- Line Clearance & Cleaning: Execute meticulous Type A/B cleaning of the coating pan interior, ductwork, and solution tanks to secure line clearance for product changeovers.
- cGMP Compliance: Maintain accurate, real-time entries in equipment logbooks and BMR charts while strictly adhering to personal hygiene and cleanroom differential pressure protocols.
