Position: Production Manager – Heavy Machinery Manufacturing

Reporting To: Plant Head / Operations Head

Role Objective

The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling manufacturing processes to ensure productive production of heavy machinery and equipment. The role focuses on achieving production targets, maintaining quality standards, optimizing resources, ensuring safety compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Control

Plan and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to meet delivery commitments.

Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.

Coordinate with PPC, stores, and maintenance teams to avoid production bottlenecks.

Manufacturing Operations

Oversee fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, heat treatment, and finishing operations.

Ensure adherence to engineering drawings, process sheets,



and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Monitor production KPIs such as productivity, yield, cycle time, and rejection rates.

Quality & Process Improvement

Ensure compliance with quality standards (ISO, customer specifications, internal QC norms).

Analyze root causes of defects and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).

Lead lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead, mentor, and develop supervisors, engineers, and shop-floor workforce.

Conduct performance reviews, skill-gap assessments, and training programs.

Maintain high levels of discipline, motivation, and safety awareness.

Safety, Compliance & Cost Control

Ensure strict compliance with safety, health, and environmental (SHE) norms.

Implement cost-reduction initiatives related to material usage, scrap, rework, and energy.
