Overview

One of our TMT clients is looking for a Head of Tax, a strategic leadership role within the Group Finance function, responsible for driving the overall tax strategy, governance, and compliance across multiple markets in the Sub-Saharan Africa region.

This role will lead the tax agenda across operating entities, ensuring robust compliance with international and local tax regulations while optimizing the group’s tax position. The role requires close collaboration with regional finance leaders, legal, treasury, and external advisors while supporting business growth initiatives across markets.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in international taxation, strong regulatory understanding, and leadership capability to influence across a complex multinational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Strategy & Governance

Lead the development and execution of the group’s tax strategy across multiple African markets.

Ensure tax policies align with corporate governance standards and international tax regulations.

Provide strategic tax guidance to senior leadership on business decisions, investments, and expansion plans.

Monitor tax risks across markets and implement mitigation strategies.

Direct & Indirect Tax Compliance

Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance across all operating entities in the region.

Ensure timely filing of corporate tax returns, VAT/GST submissions, and other regulatory tax filings.

Coordinate with local finance teams to ensure adherence to local tax regulations and reporting standards.

Maintain robust documentation and processes to support audits and regulatory reviews.

Transfer Pricing & International Tax

Lead the transfer pricing framework for the organization across multiple jurisdictions.

Ensure compliance with OECD guidelines and local transfer pricing regulations.

Support cross-border transactions, intercompany arrangements, and tax planning initiatives.
