Role Description
The Barrel Steward is a full-time, on-site role based at IIT Jammu’s campus in Srinagar. The person in this role is responsible for managing barrel storage areas, ensuring proper handling and labeling of food and beverage containers, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in service zones. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating with kitchen and service teams, monitoring stock levels,



assisting with the setup and breakdown of service lines, and ensuring safe, organized movement of barrels and related equipment. The Barrel Steward also supports frontline staff in delivering efficient food service, adheres to institutional safety and compliance guidelines, and may assist in basic record-keeping related to inventory and usage.

Qualifications
- Solid customer service and communication skills to interact effectively with guests, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Practical experience or familiarity with food & beverage operations and food service workflows.
- Ability to participate in and support training activities related to hygiene, safety, and service procedures.
- Attention to detail, basic inventory handling skills, and ability to maintain organized storage areas.
- Ability to work on-site in Srinagar, including standing for extended periods and handling moderate physical tasks.
