Summary:As a Smart City Digital Twin Simulation Engineer, you will design, build, and validate city-scale simulations for flash flood risk, traffic/pedestrian flow in public spaces (smart cities, airports, transit hubs), and operational planning for resilience. You will develop multi-domain models and integrate them into a coherent digital twin, delivering actionable insights for urban planners and infrastructure operators.Key Responsibilities1. Flood Modeling: Build and calibrate 1D/2D flood models for urban catchments and stormwater networks using Bentley Flood, InfoWorks ICM (Flood) or ARCGis Pro flood simulation2. Traffic & Pedestrian Simulation: Create micro/macro traffic simulations and agent-based pedestrian models using PTV Vissim, SUMO, and AnyLogic.Scenario Engineering: Define and execute what-if scenarios (extreme rainfall, crowd surges, operational blockades), perform sensitivity analyses, and quantify KPIs.3. Calibration & Validation: Use observed data (IoT sensors, rain gauges, traffic counts) to validate model behavior.4. Results & Decision Support: Produce dashboards, maps, and animations to communicate outputs prepare technical reports.5. Collaboration & Mentoring: Work cross-functionally with planners, civil engineers, hydrologists, and GIS specialists mentor junior analysts.Professional & Technical Skills:Must Have skills:1. Hydrology/Hydraulics modeling:
Proven experience with Bentley Flood, ARCGis Pro flood simulation and/or InfoWorks ICM (Flood).2. Traffic/Pedestrian simulation: Solid experience with PTV Vissim, SUMO, and/or AnyLogic.3. Data calibration & validation: Ability to calibrate against real-world measurements and quantify model accuracy.4. Programming & scripting: Proficiency in Python for data prep, automation, and post-processing.5. Communication: Ability to translate complex simulation insights into actionable recommendations.Good to Have6. BIM/GIS integration: Familiarity with IFC/Revit, ArcGIS/QGIS, and spatial ETL workflows.7. Exposure to AI/ML techniques for predictive modeling and optimization.8. Experience with immersive technologies such as Unreal Engine or NVIDIA Omniverse for visualization.9. Familiarity with digital twin platforms and 3D city pipelines (CityGML/IFC GIS).10. Knowledge of agent-based modeling, evacuation standards, and urban resilience frameworks.11. Tooling / Platform ExposureFlood & Hydraulics: Bentley Flood, InfoWorks ICM (Flood).12. Traffic & Pedestrian: PTV Vissim, SUMO, AnyLogic.13. Data & Automation: Python, Jupyter visualization with Tableau/Power BI.14. Behavioural Competencies:15.Analytical rigor with a pragmatic, outcome-oriented mindset.16. Ability to work across disciplines and guide junior team members17. Stakeholder engagement skills to communicate complex results simply18. Ownership of quality, governance, and reproducibility in modeling workflows.Additional Info:1. Bachelors/Masters in Civil/Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, Water Resources, Geoinformatics, or related fields.2. This position is based at bengaluru location3. Experience needed: 7 to 12 years4. Preferable: Certifications in PTV Vissim, AnyLogic, Bentley or InfoWorks ICM.
