SHAPESTORIES STUDIO
Creating stories through film, design, motion & visual experiences.
ShapeStories Studio is a Kolkata-based creative production studio built around one simple idea:
Every brand has a story. Our job is to find it, shape it and make people feel it.
We work with brands and businesses to create visual content across advertising, branded films, social media, digital campaigns, product films, corporate films, documentaries, photography, motion graphics, VFX and emerging visual technologies.
Our work sits at the intersection of storytelling, production and visual craft.
We work with a multidisciplinary team of directors, producers, cinematographers, photographers, editors, designers, stylists, artists and other creative professionals to take an idea from concept → production → post-production → final film.
We’re a growing studio, which means we’re not interested in building a team where everyone simply comes in, does their task and goes home.
We want people who want to contribute, experiment, learn, solve problems and grow with us.
⸻
WE’RE LOOKING FOR TWO CREATIVE SPECIALISTS
01 — VIDEO EDITOR
We’re looking for an experienced Video Editor who understands that editing isn’t simply about putting shots together.
You understand story, pace, emotion, sound, colour, composition and visual rhythm.
You know when a cut needs to happen — and when it doesn’t.
You should be capable of taking footage from a rough assembly all the way to a polished, client-ready final film.

A strong portfolio/showreel demonstrating your actual work is essential.

⸻
AND THEN THERE’S THE PART THAT DOESN’T GO ON A SOFTWARE CHECKLIST.
We care about skills.
But skills are not the whole reason we hire someone.
You could be an 8/10 technically and still be the wrong person for our team.
You could be a 7.5/10 technically and be exactly the person we’re looking for.
Because in a small creative team, how you think matters as much as what you know.
We look for
Problem-solving — 9.5/10
When something doesn’t work, you don’t just point it out.
You try to figure out what can work.
Ownership — 9.5/10
You care about the final film, not just the portion of the timeline assigned to you.
Energy — 10/10
You bring good energy into the room.
You make collaboration easier, not harder.
Curiosity — 9/10
You want to understand things outside your immediate role.
Adaptability — 9/10
Ideas change. Feedback changes. Deadlines move.
You know how to adapt without losing the quality of the work.
Attention to detail — 9/10
You notice the tiny things that make a good film feel finished.
Communication — 9/10
You can communicate clearly, ask questions, receive feedback and work constructively with directors, producers and fellow artists.
Team mindset — 9.5/10
You understand that great work is rarely created by one person.
⸻
WHAT IT MEANS TO WORK AT SHAPESTORIES
We’re a small, growing creative studio.
That comes with a very different kind of opportunity.
You won’t be one person doing one repetitive task for years.
You’ll get to work across different kinds of projects, different brands, different creative problems and different formats.
You’ll work with people from different disciplines.
You’ll be exposed to the entire creative process — from idea and pre-production to production and post-production.
And as the studio grows, your role can grow with it.
You might join us as an editor or 3D artist.
But that doesn’t have to be where your journey ends.
We want people who eventually want to:
Take creative ownership
Contribute to concepts
Work across disciplines
Lead projects
Experiment with new technologies
Develop new capabilities
Take on larger responsibilities
Help build the studio itself
We don’t just hire people.
We invest in people.
So we’re looking for people with a long-term vision — people who see this as an opportunity to build something with us, rather than simply another job on their CV.
⸻
THE KIND OF PERSON WHO WILL THRIVE HERE
You’re probably a good fit if:
You care deeply about the quality of your work.
You enjoy solving creative problems.
You don’t need to be told every little thing.
You can take ownership of a project.
You enjoy working with other creative people.
You’re comfortable receiving feedback.
You want to keep learning.
You are excited by new technology and new ways of creating.
You have good energy.
You want to build something long-term.
And most importantly
You want to be part of a team, not just occupy a designation.
⸻

Experience in advertising, filmmaking, branded content, digital production or related fields.
Strong technical knowledge of professional editing software.
Strong portfolio/showreel demonstrating previous work.

Robust technical and creative understanding of 3D workflows.

⸻
LOCATION & WORKING MODEL
Location: Kolkata, West Bengal
Work Mode: Full-time, In-house / On-site
Studio: ShapeStories Studio
This is a Kolkata-based, in-house role.
We’re looking for people who want to be physically involved in the creative environment and work closely with the team.
