Vice President - Structural Design Reporting To - Chief Architect Position Summary The Vice President - Structural Design will lead the structural engineering function across the organization's commercial real estate portfolio, ensuring that all structural systems are safe, productive, compliant, and aligned with the overall design vision.

The role is responsible for providing technical leadership across the complete project lifecycle—from concept development and design coordination through construction support and project completion.

The incumbent will oversee structural design strategy, consultant management, technical governance, and value engineering while ensuring compliance with applicable building codes, statutory regulations, and international engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities Structural Design Leadership

- Lead the structural design and engineering of commercial, retail, mixed-use, and large-scale real estate developments.
- Develop, review, and approve structural concepts, engineering calculations, design reports, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Provide technical direction for RCC, Structural Steel, Composite, and Precast structural systems.
- Ensure structural solutions are technically robust, constructible, cost-effective, and aligned with project objectives.

Design Coordination & Consultant Management

- Lead the selection, appointment, and management of Structural Consultants and specialist engineering firms.
- Evaluate and shortlist leading structural consultants and architectural firms based on project requirements and technical expertise.
- Coordinate closely with Architects, MEP Consultants, Project Management Consultants (PMC), Contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of structural designs.
- Translate business, operational, and leasing requirements into practical structural design solutions and engineering briefs.

Technical Governance & Compliance





- Ensure all structural designs comply with National Building Code (NBC), Indian Standards (IS Codes), local statutory regulations, seismic design requirements, fire & life safety standards, and relevant international engineering codes.
- Conduct technical reviews, structural audits, peer reviews, and site inspections to ensure design intent and structural integrity are maintained throughout project execution.
- Identify structural risks during design and construction phases and implement effective mitigation strategies.

Value Engineering & Innovation

- Drive value engineering initiatives to optimize structural systems while maintaining safety, quality, durability, and lifecycle performance.
- Introduce modern construction technologies, advanced structural systems, sustainable engineering practices, and innovative materials.
- Promote standardized engineering methodologies and continuous improvement across projects.

Planning & Budget Management

- Prepare consultant budgets, engineering timelines, and resource plans for management approval.
- Monitor consultant performance and ensure timely delivery of all structural design milestones.
- Support project teams during tender evaluations, contractor selection, technical clarifications, and construction execution.

Leadership & Collaboration

- Lead, mentor, and develop the Structural Design team while fostering technical excellence and innovation.
- Collaborate with Leasing, Projects, Technical Services, Operations, and other business functions to ensure engineering solutions support operational and commercial objectives.

Key Dimensions





- Lead and manage a team of Structural Design professionals.
- Provide structural engineering leadership across multiple commercial real estate projects.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with Architecture, Projects, Leasing, Technical Services, Operations, PMCs, Contractors, and external consultants.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (Master's Degree in Structural Engineering preferred).
- Minimum 18 years of progressive experience in structural design for large commercial, retail, mixed-use, or institutional developments.
- Proven expertise in RCC, Structural Steel, Composite Structures, and Precast Construction.
- Strong exposure to modern structural systems, international construction technologies, and advanced engineering practices.
- Thorough knowledge of National Building Code (NBC), Indian Standards (IS Codes), seismic design standards, fire & life safety regulations, and other statutory requirements.
- Experience in structural design software such as ETABS, STAAD.Pro, SAFE, SAP2000, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical, technical review, and engineering problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary consultants and cross-functional teams.
