Company Description
Toram Creators Private Limited is a knitwear and garment manufacturer based in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu. We produce inner garments and knitwear for leading domestic retail brands including Zudio, Max and other US customers. We hold SEDEX, WRAP, Disney FAMA, and BCI certifications across our manufacturing units.
We operate two production units — our head office and factory in Tirupur, and a growing factory unit in Vadipatti — and we are in the middle of a deliberate scale-up in production capacity, product complexity, and operational depth.
Role Description
We are looking for a Vice President – Operations to take full ownership of our manufacturing performance across both units.
This is not a coordination role. The VP – Operations is accountable for delivery, quality, cost across Tirupur and Vadipatti — and for building the operational systems and leadership depth that allow Toram to grow without execution risk. You will report directly to the Managing Director and will be the most senior operations voice in the business.
If you are someone who has spent years building and running garment manufacturing operations, who thinks in systems rather than in daily fixes, and who leads from the floor and not from a desk — this role was written for you.
Qualifications
- Manufacturing Operations Expertise: Deep, hands-on knowledge of garment or knitwear production — including cutting, sewing, finishing, and packing — with a solid industrial engineering foundation covering SMV, MMR, line balancing, and capacity management across multi-unit operations.
- P&L; and Cost Management: Demonstrated accountability for a manufacturing cost base — labour, overheads, material yield, and conversion cost per unit — with the ability to translate shop floor performance into margin outcomes and drive structured cost reduction programmes.
- Operational Excellence and Process Improvement: Proven track record leading lean manufacturing, TQM, TPM, and low-cost automation initiatives that deliver measurable, sustained improvement — not one-off projects.
- Strategic and Long-Term Planning: Ability to operate across time horizons simultaneously — managing daily production discipline while building the systems, capability, and infrastructure that the business will need 12 to 36 months from now.
- People Leadership and Team Development: Experience building and developing large, multi-layered operations teams — setting performance standards, running structured reviews, and creating a floor culture where accountability is the norm, not the exception.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Proven ability to align merchandising, planning, quality, and commercial functions around production commitments — owning the handover from development to bulk and holding delivery timelines without escalating every issue upward.
- Quality and Compliance Management: Hands-on experience implementing structured quality systems and maintaining certification readiness across buyer and social compliance standards — SEDEX, WRAP, BCI, or equivalent.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Comfortable running operations on KPIs and MIS — not on intuition. Able to identify non-obvious patterns in production and cost data, explain variances with specificity, and drive corrective action before a shortfall becomes a problem.
- Stakeholder and Buyer Interface: Ability to represent operations credibly to buyers, QC teams, and auditors — understanding that the factory's performance is the company's commercial reputation.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Textile Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or PGP in Operations or Manufacturing Management is preferred but secondary to the depth of operational experience.
