1. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Accountabilities

Major Activities

Project planning & contracting

- Main contract: Review project completion plan to ensure that it meets guaranteed date. Discuss and finalize with contractor to work towards target date (decided internally based on guaranteed date). Review main contracting plan received from contractor at the start of the project. Review and approve bidders list for each contract. Approve vendors list for critical material to be sourced domestically by contractor. Recommend vendors based on previous experience. Check that contracts are being awarded in a timely manner.
- BOP: Develop contracting plan for contracts that need to be awarded. Review progress on contract document preparation by construction managers and commercial team. Review bidders list and provide inputs if required. For critical activities (pipeline, township, railroad siding etc.), check whether job site of bidder has been visited and the team has evaluated safety and quality and discuss with team. Review general conditions which can become part of standard document and have the same reviewed by Legal. Review and finalize on facilities to be supplied to contractor (e.g., water, electricity). Take actionsbased on decision (arrangements for watersupply) and follow up on progress of execution. Review contracting plan and check status on contracting process with commercial (contract preparation, evaluation, awarding etc.). Provide inputs in technical evaluations if required. Provide inputs for commercial decisions (on whichbidders to be called). Meetcontractor post finalnegotiation before contract is awarded. Communicate expectations on safety, quality, and schedule. Start building relationship withcontractor's top management. Review project planand focus on sequencing, linkages between activities and impact of one activity on another In orderto ensure creation of an accurate project plan andawarding of contracts as per schedule.

Construction Management Review contracting planof main contractor, to ensure timelymobilization of resources. Review construction progress with construction managers on a weekly basis focusing on critical activities and areas of delay. Review actions to be taken and resources required for the same.

Discuss plan of action with main contractor and Indian sub-contractor. Instruct them to develop monitoring tools for detailed progress tracking. Provide instruction to project controlteam. Guide main contractor to interact withhome office of Indiansubcontractor's management to resolve issuesand provide resources.

Resolve cross discipline issues.

Review

Level 1 and 2 schedule, discuss with contractors on building floatsinto schedule. Instruct contractors for preparation of Level 4 schedule where detailed activities need to be monitored. Closely monitor with construction manager for resolution of issues. Explore options to motivate contractors for better performance. Prioritize activities to ensure completion of critical path ones. Modify methodology to achieve quicker results with the same quality. Redefine / change progress monitoring parameters as per stage of construction. Resolve escalated issues along withcontractor's top management. Discuss with teamsto resolve technical issues across all disciplines. Provide guidance to team on constructability issues and steps to be taken. Focus on material delivery from overseas, especially if it is holding up progress. Discuss during management review and take actions as required. Meet vendors / contractors if required to resolve issues and reach an agreement. Follow up till the problem is resolved. Conduct visits and review work progress and point out issues as observed.

In order to monitor progress of construction as per timelines and ensure completion of project as per time, cost, and quality.

HSSE

Drive HSSE management in new projects’ construction to ensure zero LTI during construction phase. Developstandards, policies and procedures for HSSE management at construction sites in collaboration with the contractor ensuring a LTI free performance (zero Health & Environment incidents) across Apraava Energy; Conduct periodic reviewsand accordingly updatethe policies and standards.



Designand conduct HSSE induction & training on HSSE initiatives and protocols for all workforce (including contractor’s contract workforce).

Ensure compliance of all construction activities to various environmental norms and regulations such as waste management and conduct training for workforce on these norms and regulations. Regularly audit construction sites to ensure compliance to HSSE and environmental policies for each contractor. Identify cases of non-compliance and highlight the same to concerned contractor.

Implement active participation of construction personnel regular site walk down to improve the overall safety performance of the site & also promote Lead By Example principle to carry our Safety Performance Goal To provide a protected working environment and ensurethat work is carried out as per safety requirement and standards of the company.

Quality

Discuss with Construction Manager on quality initiatives. As construction progresses, check for focus on quality of critical activities. Interact with contractors and engineers tocheck that theseare met.

Discuss with engineering on quality testing that is required. Check that contractors and engineering collects and uses data for decision making. In case of doubts / concerns ask for data to support these.

Review monitoring carried out by quality team during construction. Review and signall NCRs. Discuss quality issues with Construction Managers and resolve these. Review witness hold points for ITP, field and shop inspection plan; provide directions if required.

In case of any quality related discrepancies understand issues and decide how to resolve. Discuss with engineers in Hong Kong if required and get an agreement on way forward.

People Management

Develop a workforce which is capable, motivated and sensitive to organisation culture. Create the right atmosphere for the teamby mapping the right peopleto right jobsbased on competencies and skill sets, setting KRAs and KPIs for direct reports, providing ongoing feedback, support and guidance including on-the-job training where required. Focus on developing successors and help them becomemulti-disciplined.

Communicate with people on a regularbasis and understand their issues if any. Take responsibility to ensure that the team imbibes the organisation's values and culture.

To have a highly skilled and motivated team and ensure that they work as a cohesive group.

Policy and Process / Internal & External audit preparedness / Compliances

Develop / review procedures for all areas related to construction (including safety and quality control). Instruct every discipline to develop construction procedures, get method statements from contractors and identify risks and JHAs.

Instruct

Commercial to develop Contract Management Plan in terms of what needs to be included across areas (control points, forms etc.). Put checks and balances in place to ensure process effectiveness. Review / refine processes periodically to increase efficiency. Review procurement plan and procedures for day-to-day operations, especially payments to vendors / contractors. Resolve issues for payments, prioritize and follow up for execution. Define responsibilities well and streamline processes to reduce ambiguity. Develop / review control points for processes. Facilitate audits and prepare actions based on auditresults. Provide instruction for training to be carriedout for critical / main procedures. Check with departmental heads that their people are aware and are following procedures. Drive development of statutory compliance list in terms of requirement, who should fulfil (contractor / company), at what frequency etc. Assign responsibility to respective departments for following up.



Raise issueswhere processes become bottlenecks and discuss on streamlining these.

In order to define processes and continuously improve on the same.

Strategic planning / Annual planning & budgeting /

Performance Tracking and reporting

Involvement up to COD on planning and cost. Plan for construction budget and activities up to COD. Reviewdesign of a common format. Review whether projectcost is effectively forecasted. Assess how much contingency is in place. Review monthly update of forecast cost and contingency. Focus on decisions regarding cost of contracts outside the main plant. Get involved in claims from contractors on escalation and resolve issues.

Carry out site visits during evaluation of future projects and provide execution perspective. Provide inputs for project estimates and strategies on how the job should be bid. Provide inputsto leadership on issues at an organizational level and development of certain functions.

In order to develop accurate long- and short-term plans and monitor progress against these.

Relationship Management

Participate in monthly review with SeniorManagement. Determine formats to be used, review and sign off on reports. Participate in coordination committee meeting with government to provide statusupdate of construction.

Develop action itemsand provide these to BD team and MD to follow up with government authorities. Facilitate CEA visit. Reviewpresentations prepared by team and present to Lenders on progress. Meet local officials periodically andmaintain relations withthem.

Interact withembassies for work visasand maintain ongoing contact. Get updateson changes in rules / regulations and actionsto be takenas a result on that.Get in touchwith Labour Ministry as required. Interface with authorities for approvals on issues that are escalated by engineering.

Provide inputs for issue resolution on land acquisitions, forest clearances etc.

In order to get necessary clearances in a timely manner.

Start-up and commissioning

Review activities to ensure that completion for smooth transition from commissioning to production. Reviewand ensure contracts are closed and all deliverables at the end of job and from contractors. Determine what documents will be required during commissioning (manuals / system descriptions).

Follow up on commissioning schedule. Check that all facilities for start-up are in place (water, power, coal etc.). Review whether controls are in place in the system so that there is no risk to life or equipment.

Check that process reviews are being carried out by the team on a regular basis and bring in outside agencies to get reviews carried out where necessary.

In order to ensure timelycommissioning and handover to production.

Collaboration with Leadership and other functions

- Engage with the IEX, individually and collectively as required, as a representative of the construction function through timely communication of status and escalation of issues if any on an ongoing basis to ensure completion of projects on schedule.

- Work with BD Team in project execution (development) planning and contracting to arrive at technically and commercially viable bids including risk mitigation strategy, financing, project budget and staffing plan. Co-ordinate with BD / Commercial, Finance, Legal and Engineering teams to create viable bid contract package. Evaluate bidders on parameters like construction capability, safety, quality, historical track record, financial background, and technical capability. Establish communication protocols withthe contractor.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Educational Qualifications:
- Mandatory Qualification: B.E / B. Tech.

Functional Skills:
- Understanding of competition, knowledge of Domestic / International market, Industry trends etc.
- Engineering / Technical aspects of Power business, project management and tools, planning and analytical skills
- Working with people across cultures, Leadership Skills, people management and negotiation skills.

Relevant and total years of Experience: Overall experience of 25 years preferably across disciplines in project and construction management and specifically 3 years in a senior management position, preferably in the power sector, handling large complex projects
