Role - Database Administrator for MS SQL / Sybase

Role Summary
Provide hands-on DBA support for MS SQL Server and Sybase environments used by the local bank, covering day-to-day operational support, UAT support, incident/problem resolution, performance tuning, and close collaboration with application and infrastructure teams.

Key Responsibilities / Requirements
• UAT & production support
• Provide responsive DBA support during UAT cycles and BAU operations.
• Triage and resolve database-related incidents (availability, performance, connectivity, capacity, job failures, data issues) and drive issues to closure.
• Hands-on database administration (SQL Server & Sybase)
• Perform core DBA activities: installation/configuration support, patch coordination, database builds, upgrades, migrations (where applicable), and environment readiness.
• Manage and monitor DB health: backups/restores, integrity checks,



index/statistics maintenance, space/capacity management, and scheduling/monitoring jobs.
• Performance & stability
• Diagnose and remediate performance issues (locking/blocking, long-running queries, indexing strategy, tempdb/log contention, poorly performing stored procedures).
• Proactively monitor and tune database performance with an operational mindset (reduce incidents, improve resilience).
• Data protection / recovery
• Ensure appropriate backup strategies, restore testing, and recovery procedures are in place and understood.
• Support recovery activities (point-in-time restore, object-level recovery where possible), with transparent documentation and control.
• Security & access management
• Administer roles/permissions in line with least-privilege principles, supporting onboarding/offboarding and audit requirements.
