Diya Foundation is looking for a passionate Special Educator to join our Vocational Training team and work closely with young adults with neurodiverse needs. This role offers the opportunity to design meaningful learning experiences that prepare individuals for employment and independent living.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop annual lesson schedules and detailed lesson plans aligned with individual learning goals.
- Prepare teaching-learning materials and other instructional aids to support vocational and functional skill development.
- Conduct person-centred vocational training sessions using practical, hands-on learning approaches.
- Create, maintain and update evaluation records, assessment sheets and individual progress files for each trainee.
- Design and implement work-readiness activities that provide real-life learning experiences.
- Collaborate with parents and caregivers to reinforce learning outcomes at home through structured follow-up activities.
- Conduct quarterly parent meetings to review trainee progress, discuss developmental goals and obtain documentation approvals.
- Ensure all lesson plans, schedules,
assessments, homework records and progress documentation are maintained accurately.
- Track individual trainee goals and review progress on a quarterly and half-yearly basis, revising objectives where required.
- Coordinate with senior staff to align lesson plans with production and work schedules.
- Capture photographs and videos of classroom activities for programme documentation, parent communication and social media, while adhering to organizational guidelines.
Who We're Looking For
- Master's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation, Psychology or a related field.
- Minimum three years of experience working with individuals with neurodiverse needs, preferably adolescents and young adults.
- Experience in vocational education, life skills training or transition-to-employment programmes will be an added advantage.
- Strong documentation, communication and classroom management skills.
- A cooperative, patient and person-centred approach to teaching.
- Passion for creating inclusive opportunities that enable individuals to achieve greater independence.
