About AtomFloAtomFlo is building an AI-native Work Operating System that brings Projects, Chat, Documents, CRM, Communication, Automation, and other business workflows together in one unified platform.

We are building our engineering team and looking for a Backend Development Intern who wants to work on a real SaaS product, learn modern backend engineering practices, and contribute to features that will be used by real businesses.

You will work closely with our CTO, senior engineers, Product Managers, and Designers to build and improve the AtomFlo platform.

About the RoleAs a Backend Development Intern, you will contribute to the development of AtomFlo's backend systems, APIs, integrations, and data layer.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, learning quickly, and understanding how real-world SaaS applications work behind the scenes.

You will work with Python, APIs, databases, authentication, backend services, and integrations, while learning how production-oriented backend systems are designed, tested, secured, and deployed.

What You'll Work OnDepending on the product roadmap, you may contribute to:

Key Responsibilities

- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented Python code.
- Assist in developing backend services and REST APIs.
- Work with senior engineers to design and implement backend features.
- Develop API endpoints based on product and technical requirements.
- Work with databases to create, retrieve, update, and manage application data.
- Integrate internal and third-party APIs.
- Implement appropriate error handling and validation.




- Debug backend issues and help improve system reliability.
- Write basic tests for backend functionality and APIs.
- Participate in code reviews and follow established engineering standards.
- Use Git and Git-based workflows for development and collaboration.
- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Proactively communicate blockers and work with the team to resolve them.
- Continuously learn new backend technologies, frameworks, and engineering practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Strong foundational knowledge of Python.
- Understanding of backend development concepts.
- Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, and server-side logic.
- Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL is preferred.
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub.
- Basic understanding of authentication and authorization concepts.
- Basic understanding of debugging and error handling.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to Have

- Familiarity with FastAPI or similar Python web frameworks.
- Experience building REST APIs.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
- Understanding of database relationships, primary keys, and foreign keys.
- Familiarity with Redis or caching concepts.
- Basic understanding of asynchronous/background processing.
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman.
- Experience deploying a backend application.
- Personal, college, hackathon, or open-source projects.
- Familiarity with AI/LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools.
