Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Software Group Manager to lead our Build & Installer Tooling Engineering team within R&D.; This role is responsible for driving the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of build, release, deployment, and installer platforms that enable efficient software delivery across product lines through standardized tools across Operating Systems. The ideal candidate combines strong DevOps expertise with proven people leadership and project management skills to lead high-performing teams, improve engineering productivity, and ensure reliable software delivery.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
As a Senior Software Group Manager in R&D;, your responsibilities include:
- Lead and develop a team of 8-10 engineers focused on tooling for build and installers, release engineering, DevOps, and deployment automation.
- Strong project execution, resource planning, prioritization, and risk mitigation to ensure successful delivery of organizational objectives.
- Define project plans, schedules, milestones, and key performance indicators while ensuring alignment with business priorities.
- Partner with software development, quality engineering, product management, IT, and other stakeholders to streamline the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle.
- Own and drive strategic initiatives for CI/CD pipelines, build infrastructure, release management, and software delivery processes.
- Drive continuous improvement in build performance, deployment reliability, release quality, and engineering productivity.
- Establish and maintain scalable DevOps practices, automation frameworks, source control strategies, and infrastructure standards.
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members through regular performance discussions, career development planning, and technical guidance.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.

For This Role, You Will Need:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, release engineering, build engineering, or software delivery organizations.
- 5+ years of experience leading and developing engineering teams.
- Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and practices such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or similar platforms.
- Experience managing software build systems, release pipelines, deployment automation, tooling, and installer technologies.
- Proven expertise in DevOps methodologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management, and automation practices.
- Strong understanding of source code management systems such as Git and branching/release strategies.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, execution, stakeholder communication, risk management, and delivery tracking.
- Experience in Agile development methodologies and cross-functional program execution.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and business audiences.
- Proven experience in people management, including hiring, coaching, performance management, goal setting, and career development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
- Passion for building high-performing teams and driving engineering excellence through automation and process optimization.
- Experience leading enterprise-scale build and release engineering organizations.
- Knowledge of Python, containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience in implementing DevSecOps practices and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with software compliance, release governance, and software supply chain security practices.
- Experience managing globally distributed engineering teams.
