Within its financial services platform, Abans has a strong presence across capital markets and investment businesses , including institutional broking, proprietary trading, wealth management and investment management.

The Group is strengthening its investment research and proprietary investment platform , with a portfolio/AUM base of approximately ₹3,000 Cr , and is looking to build a high-quality senior research team focused on differentiated, fundamental investment ideas.

About The Role We are looking for a Senior Buy-Side Equity Analyst to join our Proprietary Investment Research Team , supporting an investment platform with ₹3,000 Cr+ AUM .

The role will focus on fundamental research, investment idea generation, financial modelling, valuation and portfolio support across sectors including Energy, BFSI, Commodities, FMEG and FMCG .

The ideal candidate should have solid buy-side experience , a demonstrated ability to generate actionable, high-conviction investment ideas , and the maturity to independently drive research from idea generation through investment thesis and ongoing monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Research & Idea Generation





- Conduct detailed bottom-up fundamental research across assigned sectors.
- Identify and develop high-conviction investment ideas with clear risk-reward frameworks.
- Prepare initiating coverage, investment thesis and periodic update notes.
- Independently track companies and identify emerging investment opportunities.

Financial Modelling & Valuation

- Build and maintain detailed 3-statement financial models.
- Perform DCF, relative valuation and other appropriate valuation methodologies.
- Undertake scenario, sensitivity and downside-risk analysis.
- Analyse earnings, cash flows, balance sheets, capital allocation and business fundamentals.

Sector & Industry Research

- Develop deep understanding of assigned sectors and companies.
- Track macroeconomic, regulatory and policy developments.
- Analyse commodity cycles, input costs, demand-supply dynamics and competitive positioning.
- Maintain sector dashboards, peer comparisons and valuation matrices.

Portfolio & Investment Support

- Provide recommendations on stock selection and portfolio positioning.
- Monitor portfolio companies, investment theses and key trigger points.
- Prepare Investment Committee presentations and research notes.




- Work closely with the CIO / Fund Managers / Investment Team on portfolio decisions.

Primary & Channel Research

- Participate in management meetings, earnings calls, plant visits and investor conferences.
- Conduct channel checks and industry interactions.
- Build relationships with company management, sell-side analysts, industry experts and other market participants.

Ideal Candidate Profile
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in PMS / AIF / Long-only Buy-Side / Proprietary Investment / Family Office.
- Strong preference for candidates with demonstrable buy-side investment research experience.
- Candidates should ideally have experience in Energy, BFSI, Commodities, FMEG or FMCG.
- Should have a demonstrated track record of generating investment ideas, rather than only supporting research.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, valuation and investment frameworks.
- Advanced financial modelling skills.
- Ability to independently build an investment thesis and present it to senior investment stakeholders.
- High ownership, intellectual curiosity and ability to operate in a lean, performance-oriented investment environment.

Educational Qualification CA / CFA / MBA (Finance) or equivalent qualification.

CFA Level II/III or completed CFA would be preferred.
