About The Role: A high-impact specialist role at the intersection of technology, telecom regulation, data privacy and business strategy. The role will translate evolving regulations into actionable guidance for Product, Engineering, Operations and business teams, ensuring regulatory readiness across Tanla’s platforms and offerings. The individual will also serve as a trusted advisor for CXOs and enterprise customers, and represent Tanla in regulatory engagements, audits, escalations and high-stakes matters.
The role will help turn regulatory compliance and trust into a business enabler and competitive differentiator.
What You’ll be Responsible for?
1. Operationalizing Regulation
- Product Collaboration: Partner with Product and Engineering teams to ensure Tanla platforms/products are compliant to regulations. Act as the bridge to help technical teams understand regulatory requirements and ensure new product features are compliant before launch.
- SOP Development: Convert complex regulatory frameworks (such as the DPDP Act and TRAI regulations) into clear, actionable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for internal teams.
2. Governance & Executive Advisory
- Executive Liaison: Serve as the lead point of contact for CXOs/HoDs across Tanla group regarding telecom regulatory readiness, risk assessments, and strategic compliance updates.
- Audit: Assist in internal and external audits on regulatory risks, ensuring the organization consistently meets and exceeds regulatory requirements.
3. Customer Trust & Audit Escalation
- Escalation Authority: Act as the escalation point for enterprise customers regarding regulatory inquiries and audit requests.
- Client Confidence: Provide expert, high-stakes responses to client queries, building long-term trust and confidence in Tanla’s regulatory integrity.
4. Crisis Management & External Representation
- Regulatory Response:
Lead the organization’s response to regulators and enforcement agencies during inquiries, inspections, or incidents.
- Crisis Coordination: Manage time-sensitive crises by coordinating with legal, marketing, operations, and technical teams to mitigate risks and safeguard the company’s reputation.
5. Commercial Enablement
- Strategic Growth: Work with Sales and Marketing to position Tanla’s adherence to global and local regulations as a key competitive differentiator.
- Value Creation: Reframe regulatory compliance from a cost center into a powerful sales enabler that helps win and retain top-tier enterprise clients.
What We’re Looking For in You?
- Experience: 10–15+ years in Tech-Policy, Data Privacy, or Regulatory Affairs within regulated tech or telecom ecosystem.
- Deep Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of the DPDP Act 2023 and technology regulations. Prior experience with TRAI regulations such as TCCCPR 2018 and MeitY guidelines is preferred.
- Communication: Ability to translate technical and legal concepts into simple, commercial language for diverse stakeholders (developers, sales/marketing, board members). Previous experience reporting to Board/CXO levels is preferred.
- Strategic Mindset: A proven track record of handling product development requirements, high-pressure regulatory audits and resolving complex customer escalations. Prior experience of directly engaging with regulators is highly preferred.
