Job SummaryThe Purchase Manager will be responsible for managing the complete procurement function for an FRP products and manufacturing company . The role involves sourcing raw materials, consumables, machinery, tools, spare parts, packaging materials, and other production requirements while ensuring the right quality, quantity, price, and timely delivery.
The candidate should have strong experience in manufacturing procurement, vendor development, negotiation, purchase planning, inventory coordination, and cost control .
- Key ResponsibilitiesManage the complete purchase and procurement activities for the manufacturing unit. Procure FRP-related raw materials such as resins, fiberglass, catalysts, pigments, fillers, chemicals, release agents, and other production materials . Purchase engineering materials, machinery, tools, electrical items, maintenance spares, PPE, packaging materials, and general consumables. Identify, evaluate, develop, and maintain reliable local and approved suppliers/vendors . Obtain and compare quotations from multiple suppliers. Negotiate price, quality, payment terms, credit period, delivery schedule, and other commercial terms . Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) based on approved purchase requisitions. Coordinate with Production, Stores, Maintenance, Quality, Accounts, and Management for procurement requirements. Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid production delays. Monitor pending purchase orders and follow up with vendors for timely delivery. Maintain proper purchase documentation, quotations, comparative statements, POs, invoices, and vendor records. Develop alternate sources for critical raw materials and avoid dependency on a single supplier.
Monitor market prices and identify opportunities for cost reduction and value engineering . Conduct regular vendor performance evaluations based on quality, price, delivery, service, and reliability . Coordinate with Stores for material receipt, quantity verification, and quality inspection. Resolve issues relating to short supply, damaged materials, quality rejection, and delayed deliveries . Support inventory control by coordinating procurement with stock levels and production requirements. Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and approval procedures. Prepare regular purchase reports, MIS reports, cost analysis, and vendor performance reports for management. Maintain confidentiality of supplier pricing and company commercial information.
- FRP Manufacturing Procurement KnowledgeThe candidate should preferably have knowledge of purchasing materials used in FRP/GRP manufacturing , including: Polyester / Vinyl Ester / Epoxy Resins Fiberglass Mat and Fiberglass Roving Catalyst / Hardener / Accelerators Pigments and Colouring Materials Fillers and Additives Release Agents Gelcoat and Topcoat Materials Chemicals and Process Consumables Moulds, Tools, and Production Accessories Packaging Materials Engineering and Maintenance Spares 4.
Vendor
ManagementDevelop a solid vendor network for critical and regular materials. Conduct vendor negotiations and finalize commercial terms. Maintain an approved vendor database. Evaluate new suppliers and obtain required technical/commercial documents. Monitor supplier performance and take corrective action where required. Develop alternate vendors to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Cost ControlNegotiate competitive rates with suppliers.
Prepare quotation comparison statements. Track material price fluctuations. Identify cost-saving opportunities. Review annual and bulk purchase contracts. Control unnecessary and emergency purchases. 6.
Required
SkillsStrong negotiation and vendor management skills . Good knowledge of manufacturing procurement processes. Knowledge of raw materials and industrial consumables . Strong analytical and decision-making ability. Good communication and coordination skills. Ability to work under production deadlines. Good knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and ERP/Purchase software . Strong documentation and follow-up skills. Ability to manage multiple purchase requirements simultaneously. 7.
Educational
QualificationBachelor's Degree in B.Com, BBA, BBM, BE/B.Tech, or equivalent . Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Polymer, Production, or related technical fields will be an added advantage.
Certification in Supply Chain Management / Procurement is desirable. 8.
Experience 5–10 years of experience in Purchase/Procurement. Preference for candidates with experience in FRP, GRP, plastics, polymer, engineering, chemical, or other manufacturing industries .
Experience in handling factory-level procurement and vendor development will be preferred. 9.
