Role Description: This is a full-time remote role for a Power System Consultant.

The Power System

Consultant will analyze and model power systems, including transmission, distribution, renewable integration, and grid stability studies, using industry-standard tools and methodologies. The role involves developing technical reports, feasibility studies, and engineering documentation, and providing consulting support to clients on system planning, protection, performance improvement, training, and reliability enhancement. The consultant will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions for integrating renewable energy and storage systems, support digital transformation initiatives, and contribute to project execution from concept to delivery. Day-to-day responsibilities also include stakeholder communication, participation in technical reviews, and support for training and knowledge-sharing activities within client engagements.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform power system studies using PSS/E, PSCAD, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or similar industry-standard tools.
- Develop, validate, troubleshoot, and maintain power system simulation models.
- Perform Load Flow / Power Flow Studies.
- Perform Short Circuit / Fault Studies.




- Perform Reactive Power and Voltage Control Studies.
- Perform Dynamic and Transient Stability Studies.
- Perform Harmonic and Power Quality Studies.
- Perform Motor Starting Studies, where applicable.
- Support Protection Coordination Studies and protection-related engineering activities.
- Perform Renewable Energy Grid Integration and Grid Interconnection Studies.
- Support Solar PV, Wind, BESS, Hybrid Renewable Energy, and conventional generation integration studies.
- Perform or support Grid Code Compliance Studies.
- Analyze system performance under normal, contingency, fault, and abnormal operating conditions.
- Identify voltage, thermal, reactive power, stability, and other system constraints and recommend engineering solutions.
- Review engineering data and identify modelling, data, or configuration inconsistencies.
- Develop and validate project-specific study cases and simulation scenarios.
- Prepare professional technical reports, study documentation, engineering calculations, and client deliverables.
- Participate in technical meetings, project reviews, and client discussions.
- Support project planning, execution, technical quality review, and delivery.

Required Technical Skills

Essential Skills

- Strong fundamentals in Electrical Engineering and Power Systems.
- Hands-on experience with power system simulation and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of power flow/load flow and short-circuit analysis.
- Practical experience with at least two of the following tools:
- PSS/E
- PSCAD
- ETAP
- Ability to interpret simulation results and provide engineering recommendations.
- Experience preparing technical reports and engineering documentation.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote/project-based environment.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills, including power system modeling, data interpretation, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Candidates should possess Consulting and client-facing skills, including requirements gathering, solution design, advisory support, and clear technical communication.
- Candidates should possess Project Management skills, such as planning, scheduling, coordinating tasks, and managing deliverables across multiple stakeholders.
- Candidates should possess experience with Databases and data handling, including working with engineering data sets, asset information, and performance metrics.
- Candidates should possess Integration skills related to renewable energy, BESS, and grid systems, including interoperability with existing infrastructure and digital platforms.
- Beneficial qualifications include a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with a focus on Power Systems; familiarity with tools such as ETAP, PSS®E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT, or similar; and knowledge of renewable energy standards and grid codes.
- Additional relevant skills include strong written and verbal communication, ability to work independently in a remote environment, collaboration with diverse teams, and a commitment to continuous learning in emerging power and digital technologies.
