Designation: Head – Operations & Maintenance

Reporting To: Managing Director

1. Job Objective To lead and manage the overall plant operations and maintenance functions by ensuring smooth production, maximum equipment availability, optimum utilization of manpower and resources, compliance with safety and statutory requirements, and achievement of production and maintenance targets.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Operations Management

- Plan, coordinate and monitor day-to-day manufacturing operations.
- Ensure production targets are achieved as per the approved production plan.
- Optimize manpower, machinery, materials and utilities.
- Monitor production efficiency, productivity, yield and downtime.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Stores, Purchase, Engineering and other departments.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, work instructions and company policies.
- Monitor shift operations and ensure proper handover between shifts.

B. Maintenance Management

- Lead preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance activities for plant and machinery.
- Develop and implement annual, monthly and daily maintenance plans.
- Minimize machine breakdowns and production downtime.
- Ensure timely maintenance of electrical, mechanical, utility and other plant equipment.
- Maintain proper records of breakdowns, preventive maintenance and equipment history.
- Identify recurring equipment problems and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Plan and control the requirement of spare parts, tools and maintenance materials.
- Coordinate with external service providers and contractors for specialized maintenance work.

C. Utilities & Facility Management

- Monitor and ensure uninterrupted availability of electricity, water, compressed air, steam and other utilities as applicable.
- Ensure proper maintenance of DG sets, pumps, compressors, electrical systems and other utility equipment.




- Monitor utility consumption and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Ensure proper upkeep and maintenance of plant infrastructure and facilities.

D. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure safe working practices throughout the plant.
- Ensure compliance with applicable factory, electrical, environmental, fire and safety requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery, equipment and work areas.
- Ensure proper implementation of PPE and safety procedures.
- Investigate accidents, near misses and unsafe conditions and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support statutory inspections, audits and regulatory requirements.

E. Cost & Resource Management

- Prepare and control the Operations & Maintenance budget.
- Control maintenance costs without compromising safety, quality or equipment reliability.
- Identify opportunities for energy saving, waste reduction and process improvement.
- Monitor manpower utilization and overtime requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend machinery, equipment and technology improvements.

F. Team Management

- Lead, supervise and develop the Operations and Maintenance team.
- Allocate duties and responsibilities to team members.
- Monitor employee performance and productivity.
- Identify training and skill development requirements.
- Promote discipline, teamwork and a positive work culture.
- Conduct regular review meetings with supervisors and technicians.

G. Continuous Improvement

- Drive initiatives for improving productivity, machine efficiency and operational reliability.
- Implement preventive measures to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
- Use root cause analysis for major operational and maintenance problems.
- Promote 5S, Kaizen,



TPM and other continuous improvement practices where applicable.
- Prepare and review operational and maintenance performance reports.

4. Qualifications

- Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Production, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in manufacturing plant operations and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, utilities and maintenance practices.
- Knowledge of statutory and safety requirements applicable to manufacturing industries.

5. Experience

Preferred Experience: 8–15 years in manufacturing / process industry, with relevant experience in handling plant operations and maintenance teams.

7. Authority & Accountability The Head – Operations & Maintenance is accountable for the safe, reliable and effective operation of the plant, ensuring maximum equipment availability, minimum downtime, optimum utilization of resources and achievement of organizational production objectives.

Pay: ₹30,895.80 - ₹50,065.22 per month
