We are seeking a hands-on Manager, Data Engineering to lead execution across a portfolio of Flight Safety data engineering work while also serving as a senior individual contributor. This role is responsible for prioritization, sequencing, and delivery coordination across competing needs, while providing technical leadership, coaching, and site-level support for the local engineering effort. The role is expected to operate in a working-leader model, with approximately 70–80% of time spent contributing directly to technical work and the remaining time focused on team coordination, coaching, and leadership responsibilities.

- BS / MS degree in a technical or scientific field with 14+ years of overall relevant experience.
- Accountable (A) for intake, prioritization, sequencing, and trade-off decisions across the engineering portfolio. Defines execution priorities, clarifies ownership, escalates constraints, and aligns stakeholder demand with available capacity. May contribute to solution design and implementation but is distinct from the Data Engineer role in owning portfolio-level direction and delivery decisions.
- Own intake, prioritization, sequencing, and execution visibility across Flight Safety data engineering work
- Provide day-to-day leadership for the engineering effort, including work assignment, coordination, follow-through, and escalation of blockers
- Coach and support the Data Engineer while raising expectations for quality, maintainability, documentation, and disciplined execution
- Serve as the primary point of coordination between stakeholders, analysts, and technical partners on engineering scope, timing, and trade-offs
- Translate stakeholder needs into clear technical workstreams, delivery plans, and ownership boundaries




- Establish lightweight operating rhythms for intake, prioritization, execution tracking, and decision follow-up
- Provide hands-on technical contribution where needed, especially in higher-complexity or higher-ambiguity work, while maintaining accountability for overall portfolio delivery
- Identify resource gaps, competing demands, and execution risks, and surface them early with practical options or recommendations
- Reinforce a sustainable engineering model that reduces single-threaded dependency and increases repeatability over time
- Support site-level leadership through local coordination, team support, and reinforcement of delivery standards and working norms
