KCAEM invites applications for Lab Assistant / Laboratory Technician positions for its B.Tech college laboratories.

We are hiring Lab Assistants / Laboratory Technicians for the following laboratories:

Physics-I Laboratory-1

Chemistry-I Laboratory-1

Basic Electrical Engineering Laboratory-1

Engineering Graphics & Design-1

Workshop / Manufacturing Practices-2

Programming for Problem Solving-1

Role Overview The Lab Assistant / Laboratory Technician will be responsible for supporting the smooth functioning of the assigned laboratory, assisting faculty members during practical classes, maintaining laboratory equipment and records, ensuring laboratory safety, and supporting students during practical sessions.

The candidate's educational background must be relevant to the laboratory for which they are being appointed.

Key Responsibilities

- Laboratory Operations
- Assist faculty members in conducting practical and laboratory sessions.
- Prepare laboratory equipment, instruments, tools, chemicals, software, and other materials before practical classes.
- Ensure proper functioning and availability of laboratory equipment.
- Assist students during practical sessions and provide basic technical guidance.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, discipline, and proper organization.
- Ensure that equipment and instruments are handled safely and appropriately.
- Equipment & Inventory Management
- Maintain laboratory equipment and instrument records.
- Maintain stock registers, consumable records, and issue/return records.
- Report damaged, defective, or malfunctioning equipment to the concerned authority.
- Assist in routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
- Ensure proper storage of equipment, tools, chemicals, and other laboratory materials.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to laboratory safety procedures.
- Follow institutional SOPs and safety guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining safety equipment and emergency preparedness.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals,



electrical equipment, machinery, and tools, wherever applicable.
- Academic Support
- Assist faculty members in preparing practical demonstrations.
- Help students understand the operation of laboratory equipment and basic procedures.
- Support practical examinations, assessments, demonstrations, and project work.
- Assist in maintaining laboratory manuals, practical records, and documentation.
- Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain daily laboratory activity records.
- Maintain equipment and maintenance documentation.
- Assist during academic inspections, audits, and institutional visits.
- Coordinate with faculty members and the concerned department for laboratory requirements.
- Perform other laboratory-related responsibilities assigned by the HOD / Principal / Management.

LABORATORY-WISE ELIGIBILITY

1. Lab Assistant – Physics-I Laboratory

Minimum Qualification: B.Sc. in Physics

Preferred Qualification: M.Sc. in Physics

- Basic Physics laboratory experiments

- Semiconductor devices
- Electrical and physical measurements
- CRO / DSO
- Spectrometer
- Laser
- Vernier caliper and screw gauge
- Basic laboratory safety and equipment handling

2. Lab Assistant – Chemistry-I Laboratory

Minimum Qualification: B.Sc. in Chemistry

Preferred Qualification: M.Sc. in Chemistry

- Basic Chemistry practicals
- Titration and volumetric analysis
- pH measurement
- Solution preparation
- Chemical handling
- Laboratory safety procedures
- Basic laboratory equipment handling

3. Lab Assistant – Basic Electrical Engineering Laboratory

Minimum Qualification: Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering

Preferred Qualification: B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical Engineering

- Electrical measurements
- Basic electrical circuits
- Electrical machines

- Electrical meters and instruments
- Basic wiring
- Basic troubleshooting
- Electrical safety procedures

4. Lab Assistant – Engineering Graphics & Design

Minimum Qualification: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Civil Engineering or equivalent

Preferred Qualification: B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering / Civil Engineering

5. Lab Assistant – Workshop / Manufacturing Practices

Minimum Qualification: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Preferred Qualification: B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering

6. Lab Assistant – Programming for Problem Solving

Minimum Qualification: BCA / B.Sc. Computer Science / B.Sc. IT / Diploma in Computer Science

Preferred Qualification: B.Tech/B.E. in Computer Science & Engineering / Information Technology

Relevant Skills / Background:

- C / C++
- Python
- Programming fundamentals
- Basic data structures and algorithms
- Windows / Linux
- IDEs and development environments
- Debugging
- Basic computer hardware and software troubleshooting

EXPERIENCE

- 0–2 years of relevant experience will be preferred.
- Freshers with strong practical exposure during their Diploma / B.Sc. / B.Tech may also be considered.
- Previous experience as a Lab Assistant, Laboratory Technician, Technical Assistant, Workshop Assistant, or similar role in an Engineering College, University, Polytechnic, or Technical Institute will be an advantage.

- Ability to handle laboratory equipment responsibly.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assist students and faculty effectively.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
- Good organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- Strong sense of safety and discipline.
- Ability to work independently as well as as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new equipment, technologies, and laboratory procedures.
