Junior Video Editor

About the Role

We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented Junior Video Editor who understands that great editing is more than simply putting clips together.

The ideal candidate should have a strong sense of storytelling, pacing, rhythm, visual continuity and sound design, and be comfortable working across different formats from social media content and conceptual videos to interviews, interactions, series-based content and film promotions.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to sharpen their editing craft, work on real-world productions and take ownership of content from raw footage to final output.

Key Responsibilities

Editing & Storytelling

- Edit Reels, Shorts, YouTube videos, branded content and digital campaigns
- Edit interview and interaction-based content, ensuring conversations feel natural, engaging and well-paced
- Work on series-based content, maintaining consistency in storytelling, pacing, visual language and episode structure
- Edit conceptual and narrative-driven videos where storytelling and creative interpretation are important
- Create effective intercuts, montages and parallel edits to build context, emotion and engagement
- Structure raw footage into a compelling story rather than simply following the chronological sequence
- Understand when to use hard cuts, match cuts, jump cuts, cutaways and reaction shots
- Demonstrate a working understanding of J-cuts and L-cuts and use them appropriately to create smoother transitions and natural flow
- Develop strong pacing and rhythm based on the content, audience and platform

Audio & Sound

- Clean and balance dialogue, ambience and background audio
- Understand basic sound design and audio layering
- Use music, sound effects and natural sound to enhance storytelling
- Ensure professional and crisp audio output across different platforms
- Understand how audio can be used to lead or motivate a visual cut

Visual Quality

- Perform color correction and basic color grading
- Maintain visual consistency across multiple shots and cameras
- Understand basic principles of exposure, white balance, skin tones and contrast
- Use transitions, graphics and effects only when they add value to the story
- Maintain clean compositions and skilled visual output

Creative Collaboration

- Work closely with directors,



creative teams and content strategists
- Participate in concept development and editing discussions
- Interpret a brief and translate creative ideas into an engaging final edit
- Be comfortable receiving feedback and making multiple iterations
- Contribute ideas around pacing, structure, music, transitions and storytelling

Digital Content & Trends

- Understand what makes content engaging and retention-friendly
- Stay updated with evolving formats across Instagram, YouTube and other digital platforms
- Understand hooks, retention, pacing and audience behaviour
- Adapt edits based on the platform and target audience
- Study trending editing styles without blindly copying trends

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Skills

- Strong understanding of editing fundamentals and storytelling
- Experience editing interviews, interactions, conversations or dialogue-driven content
- Understanding of J-cuts and L-cuts
- Understanding of intercuts, cutaways, reaction shots and continuity
- Good sense of pacing, rhythm and timing
- Ability to structure and edit conceptual and narrative videos
- Basic understanding of color correction and sound design
- Proficiency in at least one professional editing software:

1. Adobe Premiere Pro
2. DaVinci Resolve
3. Final Cut Pro
4. After Effects

Good to Have

- Experience working on series or episodic content
- Experience with brand films, short films, documentaries or film promotions
- Understanding of filmmaking and cinematography
- Basic motion graphics knowledge
- Experience working with multi-camera footage
- Knowledge of codecs, resolutions, frame rates and export formats
- Familiarity with AI-assisted video editing tools

Eligibility & Requirements

- Fresher to 1–2 years of relevant editing experience
- Strong command of at least one professional editing software
- Must have a personal laptop capable of handling video editing
- Must be based in Chennai or willing to relocate
- Comfortable working onsite
- Open to feedback and continuous learning
- Proactive, responsible and willing to take ownership
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work under deadlines
- Strong interest in filmmaking, digital content and storytelling

Compensation

Junior-Level Package: ₹1.8 LPA

Compensation may be discussed based on editing ability, portfolio and relevant experience.
