Principal Architect DevOps Platform Engineering

Role Overview :

We are looking for a highly experienced Principal Architect DevOps Platform Engineering to define enterprise-wide cloud, platform engineering, DevOps, and SRE strategy. The role will own the architectural vision for large-scale multi-cloud platforms, drive DevOps and platform transformation, establish technology governance, and enable engineering organizations to build, deploy, and operate applications at scale.

Key Responsibilities :

- Define and own the enterprise DevOps, Cloud, Platform Engineering, and SRE architecture strategy.
- Establish the technology roadmap for scalable, secure, resilient, and highly automated multi-cloud platforms.
- Provide architecture leadership across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
- Define enterprise-wide standards and governance for Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, GitOps, DevSecOps, and cloud-native engineering.
- Architect and govern large-scale Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) and developer self-service capabilities.
- Establish enterprise frameworks around Backstage, Golden Paths, Crossplane, ArgoCD, and GitOps.
- Define cloud-native platform architectures using EKS, AKS, GKE, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
- Drive enterprise-wide adoption of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, or equivalent technologies.
- Define strategic CI/CD architecture across Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, and Azure DevOps.
- Establish enterprise observability and reliability architecture using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, Splunk, and OpenTelemetry.
- Drive adoption of SRE principles, including SLAs, SLOs, SLIs, reliability engineering, capacity planning,



and operational excellence.
- Define enterprise DevSecOps strategy covering IAM, Vault, secrets management, container security, policy as code, vulnerability management, and security scanning.
- Lead large-scale cloud transformation, platform modernization, and migration programs.
- Define strategies to improve developer experience, deployment velocity, platform reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Evaluate emerging cloud and platform engineering technologies and establish technology adoption frameworks.
- Define architecture governance, technical standards, reference architectures, and reusable platform patterns.
- Identify and address enterprise-level architectural risks, technical debt, scalability limitations, security risks, and operational challenges.
- Lead complex architecture discussions with senior engineering and technology leadership.
- Mentor and guide Solution Architects, Platform Architects, DevOps Leads, SRE Leads, and senior engineering teams.
- Partner with CTO/CIO-level leadership, engineering, security, product, and business stakeholders to align platform strategy with organizational objectives.

Required Skills :

- 14+ years of experience across DevOps, Cloud Architecture, Platform Engineering, SRE, Infrastructure, or Software Engineering.




- Proven experience architecting large-scale enterprise or hyperscale cloud platforms.
- Extensive expertise across AWS, Azure, and GCP, with deep expertise in at least one major cloud platform.
- Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, OpenShift, EKS, AKS, and/or GKE.
- Extensive experience with Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong expertise in enterprise CI/CD and automation.
- Deep understanding of GitOps, DevSecOps, SRE, and Platform Engineering.
- Proven experience designing Internal Developer Platforms, Backstage, Golden Paths, Crossplane, and ArgoCD.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, networking, cloud security, and reliability engineering.
- Extensive knowledge of observability and operational excellence.
- Solid programming/scripting capabilities in Go, Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Strong understanding of enterprise security, IAM, secrets management, Policy as Code, and container security.
- Proven experience establishing technology governance and architecture standards.

Preferred Profile :

- Proven track record of leading enterprise-wide DevOps and Platform Engineering transformations.
- Experience in large enterprise, hyperscale, or complex multi-cloud environments.
- Strong business and technology acumen with the ability to connect platform strategy to business outcomes.
- Excellent executive communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong ability to mentor architects and engineering leadership.
- Passion for developer experience, automation, cloud-native technologies, reliability, and engineering excellence.
- Relevant AWS / Azure / GCP / Kubernetes / DevOps certifications are highly desirable.
