Front-End Engineer — Trainee → Full time | Product: AIRA / Nova | Hyderabad

Structure: 6-month paid traineeship (up to ₹20K/month) → converts to full-time (up to ₹6L CTC) based on performance Location: Hyderabad (in-person, early-stage team) Reports to: Founder & CEO / Engineering lead

What this role actually isThis is not a "build nice screens" job. AIRA lives inside Slack, Gmail, and Teams — inside message boxes, compose windows, and threads that we don't own. You'll be writing UI that has to survive inside someone else's platform, follow someone else's rules, and disappear when it's not needed. That's a fundamentally different discipline from building a standalone web app, and it's the experience we're hiring for — not visual polish.

You'll be working directly with a 6-person founding team, seeing the product end-to-end, and making decisions that ship to real users within your first few months. If you want to sit in a corner and build components off a Figma file, this isn't that role.

What you'll actually be doing

- Building inside third-party platform surfaces — Slack Block Kit / Slack app UI, Gmail Add-ons (Workspace Add-on framework / Apps Script), Microsoft Teams SDK & Adaptive Cards. You'll learn constraints most front-end engineers never touch: sandboxed rendering, platform review processes, surface-specific state limits.
- Wiring UI state to backend intervention logic — every nudge we show is gated by a backend-computed "Invisible / Nudge / Escalate" signal. You'll build the logic that respects cooldowns, dismissals, and thresholds precisely — get this wrong and the product becomes the annoying bot we explicitly refuse to be.
- The manager dashboard (React) — lower-constraint, more conventional work: weekly snapshots, trend views, selective highlights. This is where you'll build faster and see more standard patterns.

- Working close to the metal of a real 0→1 product — no legacy codebase, no 12-layer approval process. You ship,



you see it used, you fix it.
- Direct exposure to founder-level product decisions — you'll sit in on why we build what we build, not just receive tickets.

What you'll walk away with (this is the pitch, be honest with yourself about it)
- Real, rare experience integrating with Slack/Gmail/Teams platform SDKs — a genuinely uncommon skill line on a resume
- Experience building UI governed by backend AI/signal logic, not just static designs
- Ground-floor experience at a startup, including how technical decisions connect to fundraising, sales, and product-market fit
- A conversion path to full-time with real ownership, not an extended unpaid internship

Who should apply (self-filter — answer honestly, yes/no)
1. Can you commit to 6 months in Hyderabad, in-person, at trainee compensation (up to ₹20K/month) before any conversation about full-time conversion?
2. Do you have working proficiency in React/JavaScript (TypeScript a plus) — not necessarily production experience, but real personal projects or coursework you can show?
3. Are you comfortable with ambiguity — no fully-specified tickets, figuring out platform SDK docs yourself, founder saying "make it work" without a spec?
4. Is your interest genuinely in how products get built and integrated, not primarily in visual/UI design? (This role is closer to platform integration engineering than UI craft.)
5. Can you show us something you've built and shipped — even a side project, hackathon build, or open-source contribution — not just coursework?

If any answer is no, this likely isn't the right fit right now — and that's fine, better to know upfront. What we're not looking for

- Someone who wants a pure design/UI role — that's a separate hire
- Someone who needs a fully scoped spec for every task
- Someone unavailable for in-person Hyderabad work
