About Voicecare AIVoicecare AI is a Healthcare Administration General Intelligence company specializing in Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) and back-office automation. Our mission is to improve access, adherence, and outcomes for patients and the healthcare workforce through generative AI technology. We operate with security and compliance at our core, being SOC 2 Type II attested and HIPAA compliant.

We are proud to be backed by $4.54M in funding from Mayo Clinic, Caduceus Capital, Bread & Butter Ventures, and others.

About The RoleThis is not a traditional ML or software engineering role; it is a founding-level chance at the intersection of AI, healthcare, interoperability, and systems engineering. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to solve problems that do not come with a playbook.

What You Will Do:

- Reverse-engineer AI systems to analyze model behavior, agent architectures, prompts, tool use, orchestration, and system-level workflows.
- Understand and improve LLM-powered applications, multi-agent systems, and AI-native architectures.
- Deconstruct complex APIs, integrations, EHR workflows, and healthcare data exchanges.
- Work across FHIR, HL7, X12/EDI, SMART on FHIR, OAuth2, and modern healthcare interoperability patterns.
- Build prototypes, tooling, scripts, and production systems that turn findings into scalable capabilities.
- Explore MCP, contextual API orchestration, semantic adapters, schema translation, and agent-to-system interaction.
- Solve difficult integration problems across EHRs, telephony, scheduling, claims, and patient engagement platforms.

- Work directly with customers to understand real-world workflows and partner with Product and Engineering to build internal tooling and product features.

What We Are Looking ForYou might be a software engineer, security researcher, ML engineer, systems engineer, or solutions engineer who has spent years taking complicated systems apart.

Core Requirements:

- Strong software engineering fundamentals and excellent Python skills.
- Deep understanding of APIs, distributed systems, backend architecture, and AI/LLM systems.
- Experience analyzing unfamiliar codebases, APIs, protocols, or technical systems.
- Strong debugging and systems-thinking abilities with a willingness to get into the weeds.
- Comfort operating with ambiguity and a strong instinct for experimentation (test → observe → hypothesize → rebuild).
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Relevant Experience (Highly Valued):

- Healthcare interoperability (FHIR, HL7v2, CDA, CCD, X12/EDI) and EHRs such as Epic or Cerner.
- Integration platforms such as Mirth, Redox, Rhapsody, or InterSystems.
- MCP, agentic AI architectures, LLM evaluation, prompt engineering, or AI safety research.
- Voice/telephony systems, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and microservices.
- Building AI-powered data extraction, normalization, mapping, or semantic translation systems.

Why This Role Is DifferentYou will not be handed a neatly defined problem and asked to implement a ticket. Instead, you will be given a system that doesn’t make sense and asked to figure it out. You will have the freedom to investigate, experiment, prototype, break things, rebuild them, and create the technical foundation for entirely new AI capabilities.

This is a unique prospect to shape the future of AI-driven healthcare and operate at the edge of what’s possible.
