Role Overview
We are looking for an Engineer – Mechanical Design to support mechanical design and engineering activities for compressor and turbomachinery products and components.
The role provides an prospect to develop practical experience in mechanical design, 3D modelling, engineering drawings and product development while working closely with experienced engineers and global engineering teams.
The candidate should have strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, a willingness to learn and an interest in developing expertise in compressor/turbomachinery products.
Knowledge / Skills, Education & Experience
- B.E./B.Tech./Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 1-4 years of relevant mechanical design experience; fresh graduates with relevant CAD/design exposure may also be considered.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical design principles and engineering drawing practices.
- Basic hands-on experience with Siemens NX or any equivalent 3D CAD tool.
- Basic understanding of engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with GD&T;, dimensions, tolerances and fits would be an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of welding symbols and engineering standards would be an advantage.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn new tools, technologies and engineering processes.
- Knowledge of compressor/turbomachinery components would be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design
- Support mechanical design and development activities for compressor/gas turbine components and assemblies.
- Create and modify basic 3D models and assemblies using Siemens NX under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Prepare and update engineering drawings as per applicable standards and requirements.
- Incorporate design changes based on engineering requirements and review feedback.
- Support preparation and maintenance of engineering documentation.
Engineering Support
- Support senior engineers in basic design calculations and engineering evaluations.
- Assist in design reviews and implement identified actions.
- Support preparation of design inputs and technical documentation.
- Develop understanding of engineering standards, materials and manufacturing processes.
Manufacturing & Quality Support
- Work with senior engineers to understand and resolve basic manufacturing and assembly-related issues.
- Support Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) activities.
- Assist in identifying and resolving drawing and design-related issues.
- Follow established engineering processes and quality requirements.
Team Collaboration
- Work effectively with senior engineers and global engineering teams.
- Participate in technical discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Seek guidance when dealing with complex technical issues.
- Maintain engineering data and documentation in Teamcenter/PLM as applicable.
- Complete assigned tasks within agreed timelines and quality expectations.
