Role Purpose: Owns mould design from concept to manufacturing-ready data, and prepares accurate tool quotations/cost estimates that win business while protecting margin.
Key Responsibilities
Mould Design
- End-to-end injection mould design — multi-cavity, family tools, over-moulding, unscrewing/collapsible cores, hot/cold runner systems
- 3D CAD design and detailed drawings ready for CAM/manufacture
- Mould flow/DFM review, gate location, weld line and warpage risk assessment
- Standard component selection (mould base, hot runner, sliders, lifters, ejection, cooling)
- Design review/sign-off with internal team and customers
- Tool trial support and design corrections from first-shot findings
- Maintain design documentation and templates
Quotation & Cost Estimation
- Feasibility reports and detailed cost estimates from RFQs
- Cost build-up: materials, standard parts, machining hours, hot runner/automation, outsourced processes, overheads/margin
- Lead time estimation with tool room,
flagging technical risk
- Qualified quotation documents with assumptions/exclusions
- Benchmarking against past projects and competitor (incl. overseas) pricing
- Support commercial team on follow-up/negotiation
- Track actual cost/lead time vs. estimate for continuous improvement
Candidate Profile: Strong mould design experience (over-moulding, unscrewing cores, hot runner), proven quotation/costing experience, 3D CAD proficiency, DFM/GD&T; knowledge, commercial sense, strong communication, Excel/Word literate. Knowledge of Hexagin VISI 3D design software would be advantageous.
Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Tool & Die/Plastics Engineering or NTTF/CIPET/GTTC equivalent; 10–15 years' experience; Full Time, Permanent; India (Qua Tools facility); salary negotiable.
