Location: Remote / Hybrid — occasional in-person days at our Hyderabad stores (Narsingi, Gachibowli, Kokapet) Type: Internship (with a clear path to a full time Design Lead / Trainer role) Reports to: Founder / Operations Lead
About BrightDayWe carry moments, not just flowers. BrightDay is Hyderabad's most trusted florist for the moments people cannot afford to get wrong — currently 3 stores strong (Narsingi, Gachibowli, Kokapet), with more on the way. We're building a design-led, omnichannel floral brand, and this role sits at the center of that: the person who makes sure every bouquet, arrangement, and planter that leaves a BrightDay store is something worth photographing.
The RoleThis isn't a "fill vases" internship. We're looking for someone who wants to own design at BrightDay — learn the craft hands-on, raise the bar on what our stores and website put out, and eventually train others to do the same as we scale to more locations.
You'll split your time between designing yourself and getting designs made through our florists — briefing them, reviewing their work, and pushing it until it meets the standard. This is largely a remote/hybrid role — most of your work (design creation, briefing, cataloguing, digital pushes) can happen remotely, with occasional in-person days at our stores for hands-on design sessions, florist training, and store walkthroughs.
What You'll Do
- Learn the craft. Spend real time on the floor with our florists — understand stem handling, color theory, structure, seasonality, and what actually holds up through delivery.
- Design, hands-on. Create arrangements yourself — not just approve others' work.
You should be able to pick up flowers and build something great.
- Direct and review. Brief florists on new designs, set the standard, and course-correct work that doesn't meet it. Razor-sharp focus on getting every piece right, every time.
- Build the catalogue. Constantly bring in new variety — new styles, new combinations, new occasions covered — so BrightDay never feels repetitive in-store or online.
- Set benchmarks. Define what "BrightDay-quality" looks like for each product line (bouquets, loose flowers, planters, subscriptions) and keep raising it.
- Procure with an eye for design. Source flowers, greens, and planters that are genuinely catalogue-worthy — not just available, but interesting enough to feature.
- Drive momentum. Push new designs into store displays and onto the website consistently, so there's always something fresh to see and sell.
- Document everything. Photograph and log new designs properly — this becomes the training material for the team we'll be building as we open more stores.
- Conduct workshops. Run a design/floristry workshop on a weekly basis — for the team, customers, or both — as another channel to showcase the craft and build BrightDay's design reputation.
What Success Looks Like
- A visibly growing, varied catalogue across bouquets, loose flowers, and planters
- Store displays and website content that feel fresh week over week, not static
- Florists producing consistent, on-brand quality because the benchmark is clear
- A documented design library that can train the next hire
Who You Are
- Genuinely obsessed with floral/visual design — not just "likes flowers," but notices composition, color, and form everywhere
- Comfortable both creating and directing — happy to get your hands dirty and happy to push someone else's work back for revision
- Self-starting and relentless about quality — you set your own bar and don't wait to be told to improve something
- Organized enough to procure, catalogue, and document consistently — this role generates a lot of reusable material, and it needs to be captured well
- A degree in Design (any discipline — product, communication, fashion, interior, etc.) is a must
- Background in floral design or a similar creative/styling industry is a strong plus
- Able to commute to our Hyderabad stores (Narsingi/Gachibowli/Kokapet) for occasional in-person days
Growth PathThis internship is designed to lead somewhere. As BrightDay opens more stores, we'll need someone who can train new florists on design standards and run design quality across locations, not just one. If you're the right fit, this becomes a full time Design Lead / Design Trainer role.
