Job Purpose To provide comprehensive medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of adult patients while ensuring high standards of clinical care, patient safety, ethical practice, and compliance with hospital policies and applicable standards.

1. Key ResponsibilitiesA.

Clinical

Responsibilities

- Examine and assess patients presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions.

- Obtain relevant medical history and perform appropriate clinical examinations.

- Diagnose medical conditions and formulate appropriate treatment plans.

- Prescribe medications and investigations based on clinical assessment.

- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate.

- Manage inpatient and outpatient cases within the scope of General Medicine.

- Attend to emergency and urgent medical conditions as required.

- Provide appropriate referrals to specialists and other departments when necessary.

B.

Inpatient

Care

- Conduct regular ward rounds and review admitted patients.

- Monitor clinical condition, investigation results, and treatment response.

- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

- Coordinate with nursing and other clinical departments regarding patient care.

- Participate in discharge planning and provide appropriate discharge instructions.

- Ensure continuity of care and appropriate follow-up.

C.

Outpatient

Services

- Conduct OPD consultations as per the hospital schedule.

- Evaluate patients and provide appropriate treatment and follow-up plans.

- Educate patients and attendants regarding diagnosis, treatment, medication, lifestyle modifications, and warning signs.

- Maintain proper OPD records and clinical documentation.

D. Emergency &

- Critical Care Support

- Provide medical assessment and initial management of emergency cases.





- Respond to emergency calls and participate in resuscitation when required.

- Coordinate with Emergency, ICU, Anaesthesia, and other relevant departments.

- Escalate critical patients appropriately and ensure timely specialist intervention.

E.

Patient

Safety &

- Quality

- Follow hospital clinical protocols, standard treatment guidelines, and patient-safety practices.

- Ensure rational use of medicines, investigations, and other resources.

- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional ethics.

- Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement activities, morbidity and mortality reviews, and other hospital quality initiatives as required.

F. Documentation &

- Compliance

- Maintain complete and accurate patient medical records.

- Ensure appropriate documentation of diagnosis, treatment, progress notes, investigations, and discharge summaries.

- Comply with hospital policies, statutory requirements, medical ethics, and applicable NABH standards.

- Maintain valid medical registration and required professional credentials.

G. Coordination &

- Teamwork

- Coordinate with consultants, medical officers, nursing staff, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments.

- Provide clinical guidance to junior doctors and medical officers where appropriate.

- Participate in departmental meetings and clinical discussions.

- Support training and knowledge-sharing activities for medical and clinical staff.

Qualification &
- Experience

Essential Qualification:

- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.

- MD/DNB in General Medicine from a recognized institution.

Registration:

- Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) / applicable State Medical Council.

Experience:

- Postgraduate experience in General Medicine is preferred.

- Previous experience in a hospital setting is desirable.
