YAY! Mera India!
Mumbai
Company Description YAY! Mera India is a youth-driven community that celebrates the diversity, details, and everyday stories that make India unique. Built around curiosity and conversation, the community encourages young people to explore places, people, cultures, and ideas across the country.
Through content, experiences, and interactive formats, YAY! Mera India creates spaces for sharing perspectives, discovering recent corners of India, and engaging with its many cultures. The tone is expressive, social, and opinionated, inviting members to discuss what they inherit, reinvent, debate, and enjoy.
The initiative starts with content but is focused on nurturing a dynamic, inclusive community of young explorers and storytellers.
Role Description
This is a hands-on role. You’ll be out in the city, meeting people, creating content and building the community around it.
You’ll
- Create and coordinate vox-pop and street content
- Discover compelling people who could become YAY! contributors, hosts or storytellers
- Find people from different communities and backgrounds who can bring their worlds to our audience
- Help organise community events, games, treks, challenges, meet-ups and other experiments
- Find participants for travel challenges and other original formats
- Build relationships with colleges,
creators, clubs and local communities
- Help manage YAY!’s Instagram and other social platforms
- Engage with comments, DMs, polls and community conversations
- Distribute giveaways and help run community campaigns
- Spot interesting stories, ideas and opportunities around the city
- Help build smaller interest-based communities within YAY!
Who are we looking for?
Someone who
- Is genuinely curious about people and places
- Can comfortably approach strangers and start conversations
- Has strong communication skills and good English
- Knows Hindi; regional language skills are a plus
- Understands social media and contemporary youth culture
- Is articulate, observant and culturally sensitive
- Can take an idea and figure out how to make it happen
- Doesn't need a detailed instruction manual to get started
- Enjoys meeting people from different backgrounds
- Has an instinct for finding interesting people and stories
- Prior experience isn't essential. College society experience, events, content creation, theatre, travel, social media or community work can all be relevant. We're more interested in your curiosity, initiative and personality than your résumé.
