Role Overview:
- The Sales Lead – Passive Products will be responsible for driving the growth and distribution of Franklin Templeton’s passive investment solutions, including ETFs and index-based products. Based in Mumbai, this senior leadership role will work closely with institutional, intermediary, and distribution partners while aligning internal sales teams and contributing to strategic book-building initiatives across passive strategies.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of Institutional Sales Manager?
Sales & Business Development:
- Lead and execute the sales strategy for passive products (ETFs, index funds, and related solutions) across assigned channels.
- Build and deepen relationships with institutional clients, distributors, wealth managers, banks, and large advisors.
- Drive asset growth through current fund launches, mandates, and secondary market liquidity initiatives for ETFs.
Client Engagement & Market Interface:
- Act as the primary client interface for key accounts, delivering thought leadership on passive investing and portfolio construction.
- Present product solutions tailored to client needs, including ETF adoption, asset allocation, and cost-productive investment strategies.
- Represent Franklin Templeton at client meetings, industry forums, conferences, and roadshows.
Sales Team Alignment & Leadership:
- Work closely with regional and channel sales teams to ensure alignment on passive product positioning and priorities.
- Train and upskill sales teams on ETF mechanics, market making, liquidity, and passive investment narratives.
- Collaborate with marketing, product, investment, and operations teams to ensure consistent messaging and execution.
Book Building & Product Development:
- Support book-building efforts for ETFs and passive funds, including seeding strategies and anchor investor engagement.
- Provide market feedback to product and investment teams to support new product development and enhancements.
- Monitor competitive landscape, flows, and market trends to refine distribution strategy.
Governance & Compliance:
- Ensure all sales activities comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain high standards of ethics, professionalism, and fiduciary responsibility in all client interactions.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
- Minimum 15 years of experience in asset management sales, with strong exposure to passive products and ETFs.
- Proven track record in institutional and/or intermediary sales within the Indian asset management ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience in book building, ETF launches, or scaling passive investment products is highly preferred.

- Deep understanding of ETFs, index methodologies, market structure, and passive investment solutions.
- Strong client relationship management and consultative selling skills.
- Demonstrated ability to align and influence multi-channel sales teams.
