About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and certified Senior Ammonia (NH3) Refrigeration Engineer to oversee the safe operation, preventative maintenance, and regulatory compliance of our industrial cold storage and freezing systems.The ammonia refrigerator role is a full-time, in office position based in the Greater Chennai Area, responsible for the operation and maintenance of ammonia-based refrigeration systems used in seafood processing and cold storage. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring refrigeration plant performance, adjusting system parameters, and ensuring optimal temperatures for product quality and food safety. The role involves carrying out routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves, and associated piping.

The individual will be expected to identify and troubleshoot system faults,



respond to alarms, and coordinate with production and quality teams to minimize downtime. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate logs, adhering to safety and environmental regulations, supporting periodic audits, and collaborating with external service providers when major maintenance is required.

Role: Senior Ammonia Refrigeration Engineer (Cold Storage / Seafood Processing)

Location: Chennai Outer / Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu

Employment Type: Full-time | On-site

Compensation: ₹6,00,000 - ₹9,50,000 PA (Commensurate with experience)

Key Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end operation of NH3 two-stage screw/reciprocating compressors, condensers, pressure vessels, and blast freezers.
- Enforce strict leak-detection protocols, automated safety relief valve testing, and daily pressure-loop monitoring.
- Design, audit, and execute standard operating procedures (SOPs), emergency evacuation plans, and PSM (Process Safety Management) standards.
- Coordinate statutory audits with DISH (Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health) and TNPCB.
- Oversee and train plant technicians in HAZCHEM handling, SCBA gear operation, and safety maintenance.

Requirements & Qualifications:
- B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (RAC) Engineering.
- 6–10 years of direct, hands-on experience managing industrial anhydrous ammonia systems in seafood/meat processing or large cold chain facilities.
- In-depth knowledge of safety valves, NH3 sensor calibrations, and emergency shut-off protocols.
- Certifications in Industrial Safety / HAZMAT / IIR / ISHRAE are strongly preferred.
- Fluent in Tamil and English (knowledge of Hindi is an added advantage).
