Bangalore. SPIRE-FS is a multi-partner, mixed-methods research project developing, co-designing, and evaluating solar-powered post-harvest loss (PHL) interventions (e.g., cold storages, solar dryers, evaporative coolers) in rural communities of Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts, Odisha, India.
Responsibilities
- Estimate cost-efficiency measures, such as cost per user reached and cost per kg of produce storage/dried.
- Quantify the economic advantages of PHL reduction, including the value of additional produce preserved, increased farmer income, reduced spoilage, and potential savings in energy and storage costs.
- Conduct indicative cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit analyses.
- Contribute economic inputs to the project s system dynamics model for long-term scale-up projections.
- Contribute to academic publications.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Preferred Qualifications: Master s degree in economics, Agri-Business Management (ABM), Agricultural Economics, Development Economics or a related field; PhD desirable.
- Experience: Prior experience in cost-effectiveness and/or cost-benefit analysis, preferably in health, nutrition, agriculture, or food systems
- Preferred Language: English essential; Hindi and/or Odia desirable for field coordination.
