Job Description – Psychology & Rehabilitation Associate

About the Role
We are looking for a motivated, empathetic and adaptable psychology professional to join our Kasturinagar Child Development Centre (CDC), Bengaluru.
The selected candidate will undergo structured training and exposure across Physiotherapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Speech & Language Therapy to develop an understanding of multidisciplinary child development and rehabilitation services.
Following the training period, the candidate will be deployed primarily in one of the three service areas – PT, OT or Speech & Language Therapy, based on organisational requirements, individual aptitude, performance and competency demonstrated during training.
The role is particularly suited for a psychology graduate/postgraduate who is interested in working with children with developmental, behavioural, communication and functional needs and is willing to learn and work in a multidisciplinary child development environment.
Key Responsibilities1. Multidisciplinary Training
The selected candidate will undergo structured orientation and supervised training in:
- Physiotherapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech & Language Therapy
- Child development and developmental milestones
- Basic principles of multidisciplinary intervention
- Functional abilities, communication, mobility and activities of daily living
- Child engagement and behaviour management
The candidate will:
- Observe and assist qualified professionals during therapy sessions.
- Develop an understanding of the objectives and scope of different rehabilitation disciplines.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and team meetings.
- Learn appropriate methods of engaging children during intervention sessions.
- Demonstrate learning, adaptability and competency during the training period.
- Follow all professional, ethical and safety guidelines applicable to the Centre.
2. Service Delivery
Following successful completion of the training and competency assessment, the candidate will be deployed in one primary service area – PT, OT or Speech & Language Therapy.
Responsibilities may include:
- Supporting the delivery of structured intervention sessions under the guidance and supervision of the respective qualified professional.
- Assisting in implementing individualised intervention plans prepared by the relevant professional.
- Engaging children effectively during therapy and developmental activities.
- Supporting children in following prescribed therapeutic activities.
- Observing and reporting relevant changes in the child's participation, behaviour and functional abilities.
- Maintaining appropriate session records and documentation.
- Following prescribed intervention protocols and Centre guidelines.
- Supporting parents/caregivers in carrying out recommended home-based activities under professional guidance.
3. Psychology & Child-Centric Support
The candidate's psychology background will be utilised to support the Centre's child-centred approach.
Responsibilities will include:
- Understanding the child's emotional, behavioural and psychosocial needs.
- Supporting positive engagement and participation during therapy sessions.
- Using appropriate communication and behaviour-support strategies.
- Identifying behavioural, emotional or psychosocial concerns and bringing them to the attention of the appropriate professional.
- Supporting parents and caregivers in understanding the child's developmental and behavioural needs.
- Contributing to a positive, inclusive and child-friendly workplace.
- Supporting developmental and psychosocial observations as appropriate to the candidate's qualification and role.
4. Documentation & Case Management
- Maintain accurate beneficiary and session records.
- Document observations and progress as per CDC protocols.
- Assist in maintaining individual intervention plans and progress tracking.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned documentation.
- Participate in periodic case reviews and multidisciplinary discussions.
- Maintain confidentiality of beneficiary and family information.
- Support the Centre in maintaining updated beneficiary records and reports.
5. Parent & Caregiver Engagement
- Interact respectfully and effectively with parents and caregivers.
- Explain therapy activities and reinforce recommendations provided by qualified professionals.
- Support parents in understanding and following home-based intervention activities.
- Participate in parent meetings and caregiver awareness sessions.
- Respond appropriately to parent queries within the scope of the role and refer clinical or technical queries to the relevant qualified professional.
- Build positive relationships with children and their families.
6. Community Outreach & Referral Support
When required, the candidate may support the Centre's outreach activities, including:
- Community awareness programmes.
- Child identification and screening activities.
- Beneficiary follow-up and referral activities.
- Awareness sessions for parents, caregivers, schools and community stakeholders.
- Mobilisation of children who may benefit from developmental or rehabilitation services.
Qualifications
- M.A./M.Sc. in Psychology / Applied Psychology or equivalent.
- Candidates with exposure to child development, counselling, rehabilitation, disability services or developmental settings will be preferred.
- Freshers are encouraged to apply.
- Strong willingness to undergo structured training across PT, OT and Speech & Language Therapy is essential.
- Candidates should demonstrate an interest in working with children and families.

Pay: ₹14,444.50 - ₹16,000.00 per month
