Production Manager – Engineering & Process Equipment Manufacturing

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced, technically strong and hands-on Production Manager to lead complete manufacturing operations at our engineering manufacturing facility.
The candidate should have strong practical experience in CNC/VMC machining, precision machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, testing and skid-mounted process equipment manufacturing.
The Production Manager will be responsible for production planning, capacity utilization, machine loading, manpower management, quality, productivity, cost control, on-time delivery and continuous improvement across the complete shop floor.
The ideal candidate should be capable of independently handling a manufacturing setup involving CNC/VMC, conventional machining, SS fabrication, welding, assembly, pressure/process equipment and skid-mounted systems.
1. Qualification & Experience
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in engineering manufacturing and production.
Strong hands-on experience in CNC/VMC machining, fabrication, welding and mechanical assembly.
Experience in manufacturing of process equipment, pressure equipment, centrifuges/separators, rotating equipment or skid-mounted systems will be preferred.
Experience in managing multi-process production shops and multiple manufacturing activities simultaneously.
2. ⭐ KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS
CNC / VMC & Machining
Strong knowledge of CNC/VMC machining processes, tooling and cutting parameters.
Understanding of CNC programming, G-code/M-code and program prove-out.
⭐ Tool selection, tool life management and machining cycle-time optimization.
⭐ Machine capacity planning and machine loading based on production requirements.
Knowledge of turning, milling, drilling, boring, grinding and other conventional machining processes.
⭐ Ability to identify opportunities for cycle-time reduction and productivity improvement.
⭐ Experience in fixture, jig and tooling development/improvement.
Knowledge of machine utilization, downtime analysis and OEE monitoring.
Engineering Drawing & Quality
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T;, tolerances and manufacturing specifications.
Ability to interpret assembly drawings, part drawings, BOMs and manufacturing drawings.
Knowledge of dimensional inspection instruments, including Vernier, Micrometre, Bore Gauge, Height Gauge, Dial Gauge, etc.
⭐ Knowledge of First Article Inspection (FAI), in-process inspection and final inspection procedures.
⭐ Ability to analyze dimensional problems and coordinate with Design/Quality teams for corrective actions.
Fabrication & Welding
Strong knowledge of SS 304/316 and carbon-steel fabrication.
Practical knowledge of TIG/MIG/ARC welding and fabrication processes.
⭐ Understanding of WPS/PQR, welding parameters, weld quality and welder qualification requirements.
Knowledge of fit-up, alignment, distortion control and welding sequence.
Experience in piping, structural fabrication,
equipment assembly and skid fabrication.
Knowledge of surface finishing, polishing, pickling/passivation of stainless-steel components.
Process Equipment / Skid Manufacturing
⭐ Experience in skid-mounted process equipment manufacturing and final assembly.
Knowledge of piping layout, tubing, valves, pumps, instruments and equipment integration.
⭐ Understanding of hydro testing, pressure testing, leak testing and functional testing.
Experience in equipment alignment, piping fitment and final assembly inspection.
Ability to coordinate with Design, Purchase, Stores, Quality and Testing teams for complete equipment readiness.
3. ⭐ Production Planning & Control
Plan, organize and control day-to-day production activities.
Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production plans.
⭐ Prepare and monitor production schedules based on customer delivery commitments.
⭐ Develop machine loading and capacity utilization plans.
Monitor production vs. planned quantity and identify deviations.
⭐ Prepare production routing, operation sequence and estimated manufacturing time.
Monitor WIP, bottleneck operations and critical jobs.
Coordinate with Purchase and Stores to ensure timely availability of raw materials, bought-out components, tools and consumables.
Ensure on-time completion and dispatch of customer orders.
4. ⭐ Cost Reduction & Productivity Improvement
Reduce rejection, rework, scrap, machining time and manufacturing cost.
⭐ Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for production problems.
⭐ Implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
⭐ Monitor OEE, machine utilization, productivity and downtime.
Identify bottleneck processes and implement improvement plans.
⭐ Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
Optimize manpower, machine utilization, tooling and material consumption.
Develop methods to improve production efficiency and manufacturing throughput.
5. ⭐ ERP / MRP & Production Documentation
Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.

Production Status
Machine Hours
Rejection / Rework
⭐ Monitor Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and production material availability.
⭐ Maintain accurate production traceability and job-wise manufacturing records.
Generate regular production MIS and management reports.
6. Quality & Inspection
Ensure compliance with defined quality standards and manufacturing procedures.
Coordinate with Quality for:
Incoming Inspection
In-process Inspection
Final Inspection
Dimensional Inspection
Welding Inspection
NDT
Pressure Testing
Knowledge of UT, PMI, Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT) and other relevant NDT methods.
⭐ Ensure material traceability through Heat Number / MTC / inspection records, wherever applicable.
⭐ Analyze rejection trends and implement corrective actions.
7. Maintenance & Machine Utilization
Ensure optimum utilization of CNC, VMC, conventional machines, welding equipment and production machinery.
Coordinate with Maintenance for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
⭐ Monitor machine breakdown, downtime and recurring failures.
Maintain machine-wise utilization and downtime records.
Ensure availability of critical tools, fixtures, consumables and production equipment.
8. Manpower Management
Plan manpower according to production load and machine capacity.
Lead and monitor:
Production Supervisors
CNC/VMC Operators
Machinists
Welders
Fitters
Fabricators
Assembly Technicians
⭐ Conduct skill-matrix assessment and manpower skill development.
Train employees on productivity, quality, safety and standard operating procedures.
Ensure discipline and proper utilization of manpower.
9. ⭐ Cross-Functional Coordination
The Production Manager will work closely with:
Design / Engineering → Purchase → Stores → Quality → Production → Assembly → Testing → Dispatch
Responsibilities include:
Review drawings with Design/Engineering for manufacturing feasibility.
Coordinate with Purchase for material availability.
Coordinate with Stores for material issue and WIP movement.
Coordinate with Quality for inspection and NCR closure.
Coordinate with Assembly and Testing teams for final equipment readiness.
Provide management with daily/weekly production status and delay reports.
10. Safety & Shop-Floor Management
Implement 5S, housekeeping and workplace discipline.
Ensure compliance with shop-floor safety procedures.
Ensure proper PPE usage.
Maintain safe operation of CNC/VMC, welding, fabrication and lifting equipment.
⭐ Identify and eliminate shop-floor safety risks and unsafe practices.
Maintain an organized and productive manufacturing environment.
⭐ Good understanding of Excel-based production MIS, planning and productivity reports.
Robust written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with management, vendors, customers and internal departments.
Strong reporting, planning, analytical and team-management skills.

Desired Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be a hands-on Production Manager with strong mechanical and manufacturing knowledge, capable of taking complete ownership of the shop floor.
The candidate must be technically strong, disciplined, quality-conscious, result-oriented and capable of managing multiple manufacturing jobs simultaneously.
⭐ Preference will be given to candidates who have actual shop-floor experience rather than only planning/administrative production experience.
⭐ Candidates having experience in CNC/VMC machining, SS 304/316 fabrication, process equipment, centrifuges/separators, rotating equipment, piping, skid-mounted systems and equipment assembly will be highly preferred.
Pay: ₹70,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
