Job Summary
The Assistant Professor – BMLT will be responsible for teaching, practical training, academic mentoring, student assessment, laboratory supervision, and participation in departmental academic activities. The candidate should have strong knowledge of medical laboratory science and the ability to deliver both theoretical and practical instruction effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct lectures, tutorials, demonstrations, and practical classes for BMLT students.
- Teach subjects related to Clinical Biochemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Pathology, Immunology, Histopathology, Clinical Laboratory Techniques, and related areas.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, practical manuals, assignments, and question papers.
- Supervise students during laboratory practicals and ensure proper laboratory safety procedures.
- Evaluate student performance through internal assessments, practical examinations, assignments, and presentations.
- Guide students in academic projects, seminars, internships, and research activities.
- Maintain academic records, attendance, practical records, and other departmental documentation.
- Participate in examinations, curriculum development, workshops, seminars, and faculty meetings.
- Ensure appropriate handling, storage, and use of laboratory equipment, reagents, and biological specimens.
- Promote professional ethics, quality control, and good laboratory practices among students.
- Assist the department in accreditation, inspection, and institutional academic activities.
- Keep knowledge updated with current developments in medical laboratory technology and diagnostic sciences.
Educational Qualification
- Master’s degree (M.Sc./MMLT or equivalent) in Medical Laboratory Technology / Medical Laboratory Science / relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in BMLT / Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent is desirable/required as per applicable university and regulatory norms.
- Candidates must meet the qualification and eligibility requirements prescribed by the concerned university, state government, and applicable regulatory authorities.
Experience
- Teaching experience in BMLT, MLT, Allied Health Sciences, or a related program is preferred.
- Relevant clinical laboratory or diagnostic laboratory experience will be an added advantage.
- Freshers meeting the required academic qualifications may also be considered, subject to institutional and regulatory requirements.
Skills Required
- Strong subject knowledge in medical laboratory sciences.
- Good communication and classroom-management skills.
- Ability to conduct laboratory practical sessions effectively.
- Student mentoring and academic counselling skills.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety, quality control, and standard laboratory practices.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with academic documentation.
- Research and scientific writing skills are desirable.
