Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Operator with strong practical knowledge of mechanical systems, industrial machinery, tools, pumps, motors, valves, bearings, gearboxes, compressors, and general plant equipment.
The ideal candidate should be capable of independently operating, inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing basic maintenance of mechanical equipment and should have strong hands-on knowledge of mechanical tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor mechanical equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
Have strong practical knowledge of pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, valves, bearings, couplings, shafts, belts, chains, and mechanical drives.
Carry out routine inspection of mechanical equipment and identify abnormal noise, vibration, temperature, leakage, or other faults.
Perform basic troubleshooting and fault finding on mechanical systems.
Understand the operation and application of different types of pumps, including centrifugal and other industrial pumps.
Understand basic motor operation, alignment, coupling, lubrication, and mechanical transmission systems.
Use mechanical hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and maintenance tools correctly.
Perform lubrication, tightening, cleaning, adjustment, alignment, and replacement of basic mechanical components.
Assist maintenance technicians and engineers during major breakdowns, overhauling, installation, and repair activities.
Understand and work with valves, pipelines, flanges, mechanical seals, gaskets, bearings, and rotating equipment.
Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance activities as instructed.
Detect potential equipment failures before they result in major breakdowns.
Maintain equipment operating records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
Follow equipment manuals, SOPs, safety procedures, and maintenance instructions.
Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, and safety equipment.
Maintain good housekeeping around machinery and maintenance areas.
Immediately report major equipment faults, unsafe conditions, and abnormal operating conditions to the supervisor.
Support emergency breakdown maintenance and ensure minimum equipment downtime.
Required Technical Knowledge
The candidate should have strong hands-on knowledge of:
Mechanical systems and industrial machinery
Pumps and pump maintenance
Motors and mechanical drive systems
Gearboxes and gear drives
Bearings and bearing replacement
Mechanical seals
Couplings and shaft alignment
Valves and pipelines
Belts, chains, pulleys, and sprockets
Compressors
Lubrication systems
Hydraulic and pneumatic systems – basic knowledge
Preventive and breakdown maintenance
Mechanical tools and workshop equipment
Basic measurement tools such as vernier caliper, micrometer, measuring tape, etc.
Basic mechanical drawings and equipment manuals
Root-cause identification of common mechanical failures
Tools Knowledge
The candidate should be comfortable using common mechanical tools, including:
Spanners and socket sets
Torque wrenches
Allen keys
Pipe wrenches
Bearing pullers
Hammers and other hand tools
Drilling machines
Grinding machines
Cutting tools
Welding equipment – basic knowledge preferred
Vernier caliper and micrometer
Alignment tools
Other workshop and maintenance tools
Qualifications & Experience
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
3–5+ years of hands-on industrial mechanical experience preferred.
Strong practical knowledge is more important than theoretical knowledge.
Candidate must be able to identify mechanical problems and suggest practical solutions.
Experience in plant, factory, production, facility, utility, or industrial maintenance will be preferred.
Ability to work independently as well as with a maintenance team.
Willingness to work in shifts and attend emergency breakdowns when required.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should be a hands-on mechanical person who understands how machines work and can troubleshoot equipment practically.
The candidate should not only know the names of mechanical components but should understand how pumps, motors, bearings, gearboxes, valves, couplings, seals, and other mechanical systems operate, how they fail, and how to inspect and maintain them.
- Solid practical mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting ability are essential.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
