URGENT HIRING – CONSULTANT NEPHROLOGIST

POSITION

Consultant Nephrologist

QUALIFICATION

• MBBS

• MD / DNB General Medicine

• DM / DNB Nephrology

• Valid State Medical Council Registration

EXPERIENCE

• Consultant: Minimum 2–5 years post-DM/DNB Nephrology experience

• Senior Consultant: Minimum 8–10 years post-specialisation experience with dialysis unit and transplant exposure

• Fellowship/Training in Renal Transplantation, Interventional Nephrology, Critical Care Nephrology or Dialysis Management will be an added advantage

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct Nephrology OPD consultations and manage IPD patients

• Diagnose and manage CKD, AKI, hypertension, proteinuria, haematuria, glomerular diseases, diabetic kidney disease and electrolyte/acid-base disorders

• Develop individualized treatment plans and provide long-term follow-up

• Manage nephrology consultations across hospital departments

• Manage renal complications in critically ill patients and provide ICU nephrology support

• Supervise the Hemodialysis programme, prescribe dialysis regimens and manage dialysis-related complications

• Evaluate and manage Peritoneal Dialysis patients including CAPD/APD

• Assess and plan AV fistula, AV graft and dialysis catheter requirements

• Manage AKI, sepsis-related renal failure, fluid overload and electrolyte emergencies in ICU

• Support CRRT services where available

• Provide pre- and post-renal transplant evaluation and follow-up where applicable

• Perform kidney biopsy, temporary dialysis catheter insertion and other nephrology procedures as per credentialing

• Coordinate with intensivists, cardiologists, endocrinologists,



urologists and transplant teams

• Counsel patients and families regarding renal disease, dialysis, lifestyle and treatment adherence

• Maintain complete and accurate clinical and dialysis documentation

• Ensure compliance with NABH, NMC, dialysis quality and infection-control standards

SKILLS REQUIRED

• Strong expertise in CKD and AKI management

• Excellent Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis management skills

• Critical Care Nephrology and CRRT experience preferred

• Strong knowledge of electrolyte, acid-base and hypertension management

• Renal transplant support and follow-up experience preferred

• Good procedural and clinical decision-making skills

• Excellent patient counselling and communication

• Strong multidisciplinary teamwork and leadership abilities

• Emergency coverage

• On-call Nephrology roster

• Availability for urgent dialysis and AKI/critical care cases

• Participation in departmental and quality meetings

HOSPITAL DEVELOPMENT

• Contribute to development and expansion of Nephrology & Dialysis Services

• Support CKD, Dialysis, Hypertension and Diabetic Kidney Disease clinics

• Participate in kidney health screening and awareness programmes

• Build referral relationships with physicians, diabetologists, endocrinologists, cardiologists, urologists and critical care specialists

• Contribute to growth of Nephrology OPD, dialysis and renal transplant follow-up services
