EHS Officer Water Treatment Plant

Job Purpose

Responsible for implementing and monitoring Environment, Health & Safety requirements at the water treatment plant, ensuring compliance with applicable statutory requirements, company standards, and protected operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- Conduct daily safety inspections of the water treatment plant, pumps, chemical storage areas, electrical rooms, and work areas.
- Identify hazards and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Implement and monitor Permit-to-Work (PTW), LOTO, confined-space entry, work-at-height, hot-work, and excavation safety systems.
- Ensure proper use and availability of PPE.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and regular EHS training.
- Monitor chemical handling and storage, including chlorine, acids, alkalis, coagulants, and other treatment chemicals.
- Ensure availability and inspection of emergency showers,



eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, spill kits, gas detectors, and other emergency equipment.
- Conduct risk assessments/JSA for plant operations and maintenance activities.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions and prepare corrective-action reports.
- Participate in emergency drills, including chemical leakage, fire, confined-space rescue, and evacuation drills.

Environmental Management
- Monitor compliance related to wastewater, sludge handling, chemical waste, and hazardous waste.
- Maintain required environmental records and support regulatory inspections.
- Monitor water quality, discharge parameters, chemical consumption, and waste-management practices as applicable.
- Ensure proper segregation, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
