Role & responsibilities:
- Lead plant Safety & Workplace operations and ensure compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, procedures, SOPs, and safe work practices across the plant.
- Ensure compliance with Factories Act, Environment regulations, Fire & Safety requirements, hazardous chemical handling, and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, HAZOP, JSA/JHA, and compliance assessments.
- Lead incident/accident investigations, root cause analysis, CAPA, and preventive actions.
- Monitor and manage environmental compliance, including air emissions, effluent treatment, hazardous waste, waste management, and pollution control requirements.
- Ensure effective emergency preparedness, fire protection systems, disaster management, and mock-drill programs.
- Drive safety initiatives for process safety, chemical handling, confined space, hot work, work at height, LOTO, and contractor safety.
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, QA, Projects, and other functions to ensure safe plant operations.
- Manage statutory approvals, licenses, consents, returns, and regulatory submissions related to Safety and Environment.
- Support and lead customer, corporate, statutory, and regulatory audits/inspections and ensure timely closure of observations.
- Monitor EHS KPIs, prepare MIS and management reports, and present performance updates to senior management.
- Conduct safety induction, awareness programs, training, toolbox talks, and competency development for employees and contractors.
- Drive EHS improvement projects, sustainability initiatives, energy/resource conservation, and compliance excellence.
- Lead and develop the Safety & Environment team and ensure effective deployment of resources.
