Verification Operations Head
Location: Remote | Experience: 8–12+ years | Reports to: COO
About the Role
We're looking for a senior operations leader with deep experience running large, manual, document-intensive processes to build and run our in-house Verification function from the ground up — hiring, training, and managing a team of 100–150 fresher verifiers responsible for conducting candidate background/report verification at scale. You'll own this function end-to-end: team build-out, training systems, day-to-day management, and report output.
Why this background fits the role
At its core, this is a high-volume, manual, documentation-heavy operation — checking documents against claimed details, calling to confirm records, tracking status across hundreds of open cases at once, and maintaining accuracy under volume pressure. This is fundamentally a process and people-management problem, not a specialized verification-industry problem — someone who has run large manual/documentation operations elsewhere (data processing, claims processing, back-office operations, document/records management, compliance documentation, or similar) already has the core instincts this role needs: structured process design, quality control at scale, and managing a large team of people doing detail-heavy manual work all day. We'll provide domain-specific training on verification standards; what we can't easily train is the operational instinct for running this kind of team well.
What you'll own
- End-to-end hiring of 100–150 fresher verifiers, on a rolling, continuous basis to offset natural attrition and support scale
- Building a tiered management structure underneath (Team Leads / Cluster Leads) so a 100–150 person team is never unmanaged, regardless of headcount
- Designing and running the full training program for new verifiers — document-checking standards, verification call scripts, red-flag identification, and quality benchmarks
- Full ownership of report output — verification turnaround time, accuracy, and volume targets across the entire team
- Day-to-day team management: performance monitoring, quality audits, escalation handling, and continuous process improvement
- Building the SOPs, checklists, and quality-control systems that keep accuracy consistent as the team scales — treating this the way you'd treat any large manual-operations function
- Reporting verification output, team health, and quality metrics directly to the COO
What we're looking for — hard requirement
- 8–12+ years of experience managing large-scale manual, documentation-heavy operational teams — this could include back-office/document processing, claims processing, data verification/audit teams, compliance documentation operations, records management, or similar high-volume administrative operations — not necessarily background verification specifically
- Proven experience building an operational team from scratch and scaling it to 100+ people,
including continuous hiring to offset fresher attrition
- Strong process-design and SOP-building instincts — able to take a manual, detail-heavy task and build a structured, repeatable, trainable system around it for a team of freshers
- Track record of owning output/throughput metrics directly — turnaround time, accuracy rate, volume — not just people management in the abstract
- Demonstrated ability to maintain quality and accuracy standards across a large team doing repetitive, detail-sensitive manual work under volume pressure
- Comfortable building call/communication-based workflows into a documentation process (e.g., training a team to make verification calls), even without prior background specifically in verification
What we're looking for — positive to have
- Experience specifically in operations involving both documentation review and phone-based confirmation/follow-up work
- Familiarity with case-management or workflow-tracking tools used to manage high-volume operational pipelines
- Background in compliance-adjacent or audit-adjacent functions, where accuracy and defensibility of records mattered
What you'll build the team with The 100–150 verifiers are fresher hires from any graduate stream — screened primarily for communication skills (many verification checks involve calling a candidate's previous employer or institution) and attention to detail, not a specific degree background. You will own defining and refining this hiring/screening criteria as the function scales, applying the same operational rigor you've used to build manual-process teams in the past.
