Role Overview The Support Engineer will act as the first point of technical response for issues affecting the organisation's live applications and infrastructure, working closely with the development team to keep platforms stable and users unblocked. This role requires solid technical breadth across the front end, back end, APIs, and cloud infrastructure, with a focus on triaging, investigating, and resolving issues quickly and thoroughly.

The Support

Engineer will take ownership of problems from initial report through to root-cause resolution, documenting findings so recurring issues are prevented, and will work closely with the Lead Developer and wider development team to maintain a healthy, well-monitored production environment.

Key Responsibilities

•Monitor live applications and infrastructure to identify and address issues before they affect users

•Triage and resolve bugs, integration failures, and performance issues across web and cloud environments

•Investigate and debug issues across the stack, including front-end behaviour, API failures, database queries, and cloud infrastructure

•Handle support tickets and escalations, communicating clearly with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders

•Work closely with developers to reproduce issues, identify root causes, and push fixes through to resolution





•Maintain logs and documentation of recurring issues, and build runbooks to prevent repeat incidents

•Support application deployments, environment configuration, and routine maintenance tasks

•Assist with third-party API and service integrations, including debugging webhooks, sync failures, and data pipeline issues

•Contribute to internal tooling and automation that reduces manual support effort over time

Key Deliverables

•Live applications and infrastructure monitored, with issues identified and addressed proactively

•Support tickets and escalations resolved to a high standard, with transparent and timely communication

•Recurring issues documented and reflected in runbooks and the internal knowledge base

•Stable, well-supported deployments and environment configurations

•Internal tooling and automation contributed to, reducing manual support effort

Required Skills and Attributes

•One to two years of experience in a technical support, software engineering, or application support role, or strong internship/project experience with real shipped work

•Solid understanding of how web applications work across the stack, with the ability to read code and understand its behaviour

•Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and at least basic familiarity with Node.js or a similar backend runtime

•Comfortable with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL,



including the ability to write and read SQL queries to investigate data issues

•Familiarity with REST APIs, including debugging request/response cycles, understanding status codes, and using tools such as Postman

•Some exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including basic familiarity with logs, storage, and compute services

•Comfortable with Git and everyday version control workflows

•Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to act as a bridge between users and developers

•Detail-oriented and thorough, with a focus on documenting findings as well as fixes

Desirable Skills and Experience

•Experience with Docker or containerised environments

•Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows

•Exposure to monitoring and alerting tools such as Sentry, Datadog, or CloudWatch

•Basic scripting ability in Python or Bash for automating repetitive tasks

•Experience working with third-party integrations, webhooks, or payment APIs

Qualifications

•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
