Job Summary:

As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will play a key role in identifying, developing, and stabilizing suppliers in sheet metal and machining categories. This role demands a strong foundation in manufacturing processes, technical assessment, and project execution. You will be responsible for supplier evaluation, onboarding, and ensuring successful production ramp-up for Current Product Development (NPD) programs.

Working under the guidance of the Team Lead, you will drive cost optimization, quality compliance, and timely supplier readiness.

Roles & Responsibilities:

· Supplier Identification & Evaluation: Identify and assess new suppliers for sheet metal and machining based on capability, capacity, quality, and compliance (4M: Man, Machine, Method, Material).

· Onboarding & Documentation: Support supplier audits, compliance checks, and onboarding documentation in coordination with QA and Procurement.

· 1st Batch Provena & PPAP: Plan and execute first batch production trials and ensure timely submission and approval of PPAP documentation.

· Monitoring & Stabilization: Track supplier performance metrics during the ramp-up phase and assist in resolving quality or delivery issues until full stabilization.

· Cost Benchmarking & VAVE: Participate in cost benchmarking exercises, VAVE projects, and supplier discussions for cost reduction and process improvements.

· Localization Support: Assist in identifying local suppliers and evaluating them for process feasibility and commercial viability.

· Cross-functional Coordination: Work with NPD, QA, and Sourcing teams to ensure supplier deliverables meet project quality and timeline goals.





· Technical Reporting: Maintain structured documentation of supplier evaluations, development status, issues, and corrective actions.

· Compliance & Risk: Ensure supplier adherence to internal technical and quality standards, and support risk mitigation plans through dual sourcing initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / manufacturing engineering or related field.

· 2–5 years of experience in supplier development, manufacturing engineering, or sourcing.

· Hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication and machining processes.

· Understanding of PPAP, APQP, and quality systems.

· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and process flows.

· Exposure to supplier audits and cost benchmarking preferred.

· Strong documentation, coordination, and communication skills.

· Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and basic data analysis.
