About The Role

We are looking for a highly experienced and strategic procurement leader to join our team as Assistant General Manager - Direct Purchase. This role will be responsible for driving purchasing excellence, supplier development, cost optimization, localization initiatives, and successful execution of new product launches within a dynamic automotive manufacturing environment.

The position involves managing an annual spend exceeding ₹2,000 Crores, leading a team of procurement professionals, and collaborating with cross-functional and global stakeholders to ensure business objectives are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute global purchasing strategies while ensuring process compliance.
- Develop and strengthen the supplier base in India in line with segment strategies.
- Lead and support supplier negotiations and annual cost-saving initiatives.
- Drive successful launches of current projects related to Seat Belts, Airbags, and Steering Wheels.
- Manage supplier capacity planning and supply chain risk mitigation.
- Lead change management and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) activities.
- Ensure contribution margin targets are achieved for all new projects.
- Support localization initiatives and supplier development programs.
- Monitor project timelines and ensure timely execution.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program Management.




- Ensure compliance with ASPP requirements and maintain accurate cost data in ICAN.
- Conduct sourcing board meetings and support sourcing decisions for new developments.
- Manage supplier-related quality, delivery, and commercial issues.
- Coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing purchasing team.

Key Deliverables
- Successful launch of new automotive programs.
- Achievement of annual savings targets.
- Management of over 70 suppliers, including global suppliers.
- Effective management of supplier spend exceeding ₹2,000 Crores annually.
- Delivery of year-on-year business growth through new project execution.
- Leadership and development of a team of 5-6 professionals.

Experience Required Experience & Expertise

- 22-25+ years of experience in Purchasing, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management.
- Mandatory experience within the Automotive Industry.
- Experience in multinational and matrix organizations preferred.
- Strong expertise in supplier management and strategic sourcing.

Technical Skills
- Tooling and component cost estimation.
- Robust knowledge of Plastics, Stamping, Metals, and Die Castings.
- Supplier market research and technology assessment.
- Negotiation and purchasing management skills.
- Knowledge of supplier development and localization projects.
